The HALO Bassinest Swivel Sleeper is the only bassinet that can swivel to allow your baby to sleep as close to you as you want, even right next to you, while still sleeping safely in their own space. Read our full review to see if this bassinet is the right one for your family.
I've partnered with HALO for this post.
I could not be more excited to share with you my thoughts about the HALO Bassinest Swivel Sleeper and the HALO SleepSack Swaddle. The Bassinest came out just after my second little one was born and I coveted it from the moment I saw it, and now here it is in my house for baby number three! My older daughters have both been in SleepSacks until about 2 years old but this is my first time using a SleepSack Swaddle.
The HALO Bassinest has to be the neatest bassinets ever. It's recommended for up to 5 months of age and/or 20 pounds. I only wish I had it for my first two babies. Our third daughter was born the day after Christmas and Lilibeth loves her Bassinest!
Assembling the Bassinest was simple. It took my husband 20 minutes to put it together with my 3 year old and 20 month old “helping." It took another 20 to find our batteries for the music/vibrating attachment and to screw it on and play with it for a while. I admit, I thought it would be a big assembly process, but I was pleasantly surprised that it was fully functional in only 20 minutes.
The Bassinest can be raised or lowered to accommodate a wide variety of bed heights. It works for beds that are 22 to 34 inches tall.
The front wall of the Bassinest features an "arm bar" that can move up and down so you can care for your baby. You have the option of locking the arm bar in place or making it so that it can come down when you put your arm on it. My only con of the HALO Bassinest is that the arm bar isn’t easy to lower. It takes a good bit of force. I was hoping it would be more of a co-sleeper in that I wouldn’t have to sit up to take the baby out of the Bassinest at night, but it is very nice to be able to have them close to you. My only “con” is also a “pro”. It makes the whole Bassinest more safe for the baby. So, it really just depends on what you are looking for.
The arm bar does however make it very easy to comfort your baby or just to lay a hand on them to feel close to them (or to check for breathing as we all do). Its locking feature is also incredibly helpful when older siblings are involved. I can put the baby in the Bassinest and her 3 and almost 2 year old sisters cannot get her out - so mommy knows it is safe to run to the restroom with her safely tucked in here!
The 360 degree swivel feature is amazing. The baby can be literally an inch above your bed - over your bed - and then if you need to get up to use the rest room you can just push it out and swivel it out of the way.
This is a HUGE advantage over co-sleepers that attach to the bed. If you have a co-sleeper that attaches to the bed then you have to crawl off the end of the bed to get out. I cannot say enough good things about this feature. Here you can see the Bassinest swiveled out of the way.
The mesh baskets on both sides of the Bassinest are great features! The ability to hold diapers, wipes, and a spare outfit in the pocket is an amazing feature! Trust me, the shorter the time that you are walking around and changing the baby, the more rest you get. It helps the baby too if he/she is not carried a great distance and then diaper changed. Being able to keep them in place, change them, lift them to nurse them and then put them back to rest without ever even having to climb fully out of bed is fabulous. You’ll be able to just lay back down and go to sleep!
Lastly, the bells and whistles on the HALO Bassinest are great, and they're all useful. I love this. I feel like a lot of baby products these days have extras just to be extras. These features are all exceptional. There is a night light that is dim so you can see the baby in the middle of the night for diaper changes. There is also a vibrator with two settings, music that is tasteful and soft as well as a nursing timer. Nursing timer you might ask? Yes, in the middle of the night - once sleep deprivation has really started to kick in - it is possible to fall asleep while nursing. This can lead to the baby putting their sweet little face against your breast or clothing which can cause suffocation. The nursing timer wakes you up reminding you to replace the baby into the safety of the Bassinest.
The HALO Bassinest LUXE and LUXE plus models are just rolling out ! They feature a floor light as well as everything above to help you see in the middle of the night. The LUXE and LUXE plus models also include a storage caddy that attaches to the back. Buying this could eliminate your need to have a bassinet and a changing station. This would become both in just one product! Here is the new print that it comes in called “lemon drop” - isn't is beautiful?!
Retail price of the Halo Bassinest is $199-$299 depending on the model. They also just came out with an organic mattress pad option! Here are some of the other accessories that they just came out with!

I was wondering how she would take to the swaddle… it’s like baby magic! I put her in the swaddle when she was drowsy, tucked her arms in, closed it up and she slept for two hours! She LOVES it!
I love that the instructions are right there on the swaddle and there is a little embroidered reminder on the front that “back is best” for sleeping. Thanks for making it easy on sleep-deprived moms everywhere! I have also noticed that having the instructions on it meant that my husband didn’t have the excuse to ask, “Hey! How does this thing work?” or the “I cannot figure this out. Can you come and do it, honey?” If you have been here before in parenting you know how valuable eliminating even one of these questions is! 🙂
The pattern is super cute and I love that the baby can have their arms out or arms tucked in. My first baby was a thumb-sucker right from the start, so she needed to be arms out. But Lilibeth sleeps so much better with her arms tucked in. It helps them sleep by preventing the Moro (or startle) reflex. It’s so nice to be able to have both arms in and to be able to transition to arms out as the baby gets older!
HALO recommends having a tight fitting swaddle and they've provided a swaddle fitting guide here so you know what to order. I must say, these are two (mommy and baby) VERY happy HALO customers.
