I discovered a fun way to encourage my kids to be safe this Halloween. The Adventures of Goobley and Wazy is an engaging new children's book to teach your kids safe practices during trick-or-treating.
Halloween is upon us and now is the time to start thinking about our trick-or-treating game plans. Whether you're going to a trunk-or-treat or canvasing your neighborhood, teaching your children about Halloween safety is so important. I think that children instinctively know a few things about Halloween night, like screaming "Trick or Treat," but there are so many other things to think about and that's where The Adventures of Goobley and Wazy comes into play.
This new children's book is perfect for teaching children the ins and outs of having a fun, but safe, Halloween. The book is the brainchild of Rich, a former state trooper who always has safety in mind. When his son, Hunter, was old enough to start trick-or-treating he starting looking for materials to teach him the safety "rules" of Halloween. Rich couldn't find any resources so he set out to create his own and so was born Goobley and Wazy.
The characters are absolutely adorable. Goobley is a super cute goblin who has ears that wiggle when trouble is near. Wazy Witch, Goobley's friend, shares educational gems with us as the story progresses through Halloween night. The lessons are taught in an engaging way because the book is written in a rhyming narrative. As a parent, I feel like this makes the book so much easier to read and keeps my kids' interested.
The illustrations in this hard-cover book are vivid and bright and quite entertaining. Goobley and Wazy clearly show how to trick-or-treat safely by going through eight different safety tips.
When your child is done reading the book, there is a Safety Certificate of Completion that you can fill out for them to commemorate them finishing the book.
