Get ready to spread a little extra holiday cheer this year! I've teamed up with JCPenney to share how you can find the best brands at the best prices for holiday gift giving. By giving a little extra joy, you'll get some back and that's the #JoyWorthGiving!
Have your kids been making their holiday lists? My 4.5 year old sure has. He's circled almost everything in the flyers that have been arriving at our house. I suppose that's what kids do, but I'm trying to be very deliberate in teaching my little ones about the joy of giving too.
Rather than face the crowds on Black Friday (and the potential meltdown from my kids), we shopped the sales at JCPenney.com from the comfort of our own home. My little guy sat down beside me and together we picked out gifts for local kids in need. We also talked a lot about the fact that some children won't wake up to a Christmas tree that surrounded by gifts. By the end of our virtual shopping experience he was already anticipating the arrival of our packages so he could help wrap the gifts for other kids. That truly warmed my heart.
I seriously love that our dollar goes further at JCPenney. They've got such a huge variety of gifts for everyone on your list at incredible price points. Plus, they've just rolled out their "Lowest Price Guarantee." If you find a lower current advertised price on an identical item available at JCPenney, you can bring that ad to a JCPenney store within 14 days and they’ll beat that price by 5%. That is music to my ears!
They've even got the website set up so you can effortlessly find affordable gifts from the top brands that are under $10, $15, $25, $50, or $100. I was surprised to see what a fantastic selection of Melissa & Doug and Disney products that JCPenney has. Those brands are favorites in our house, so those were a natural choice for us to purchase for our toy donations.
Once we got started with our Black Friday shopping, we couldn't just stop at toys. I'm telling you, if you haven't shopped at JCPenney in a while, you're in for an awesome surprise. They have SO many great deals on the brands you know and love, like Nike, KitchenAid, Keurig, Levis, and don't forget about Sephora. They truly have something for everyone in the family and their selection is totally on-trend. Whether we're shopping online or in-store, JCPenney has become our one-stop shopping destination.

This is great! I tired to do the same with my kids. Choosing gifts for recipients who need them more than we do!

We often talk about why we give gifts. I have been talking to my kids this year about kids and families who might not be able to afford anything for the holidays, even food. We let my daughter pick out food to take to her school food drive. Try to remind them to think of others too... even though you are excited to get gifts

It really epitomizes what Christmas is about, putting joy on another's face <3 Unfortunately the money hasn't been there recently for us to gift back in the ways I used to!! I loved picking a few kids off the giving tree and shop!! It was one of my favorite things, maybe next year!! Till then we have been giving to the salvation army bell ringers!! Its my son's favorite things!! He loves putting dollars in 🙂

I started doing the same thing with my son around the holidays. We sot in his room and go through gently used toys and I explain that there are many children that are much less fortunate. He enjoys doing every year now.

We have always made sure that our boys know how important giving back to those in need is . Ever since they we're both old enough Tito understand what giving back meant we made sure to give back as much as possible. By donating all the toys and clothes they didn't use or fit in . We try our hardest to have care packages in our car to give our if we see a homeless person/family .

They were so surprised to find out some kinds don't have toys, nice clothes, shoes, a warm bed. It's a hard concept especially when they wonder why Santa doesn't help.

I have a warm place in my heart for Foster children. I'm happy to see a lot of stores that are helping out, not just at Christmas. I adopted a wonderful boy at 2.5 that had some issues, he's now nearly 13 and the bright spot in my day. I didn't have plans for more kids, mine being grown and out of the house and all, but what a blessing. It really opened my eyes on how children in Foster care situation are transported around. If I'd been younger I would have wanted to take on several children...bless these sweet children. Merry Christmas to all.

My husband knows what it feels like to not have much. So when our children were old enough to understand we explained to them about helping others and being givers and not just recievers.

My children are older (14 & 13 years old) so we do less for them and as a family, we choose several wishes from our church's giving tree and grant those. My children help pick out the wishes, shop, help pay for and wrap the gifts. We have been blessed and we want to give back to others. They look forward to choosing their wish every year.
