With the holidays right around the corner, everyone is probably looking for the hottest new toys. I'm thrilled to partner with Moose Toys to share our experience with the #FailFix Dolls, a finalist for Toy of the Year Awards in the Doll Category.
My 5-year-old is into dolls in a big way. From baby dolls to mini-figures to dolls as big as her body, she loves them all. That's exactly why I knew she'd be excited about the latest dolls from Moose Toys. This family-owned Australian-based company is behind some of her very favorite toys -- like Shopkins and Little Live Pets -- so when they offered to send her the new #FailFix dolls, I enthusiastically said yes! Boy, was I right!
#FailFix Dolls
The #FailFix Dolls are 8.5" fashion dolls who have tried out the latest online beauty trends and tutorials and have FAILED in an epic way. So, they need your help to fix their major beauty mishaps. You'll transform their hair and face, bringing them from drab to fab. They come with a host of accessories and beauty tools, along with Rare or Ultra-Rare outfits made with fun, colorful materials.
After looking at the #FailFix Dolls on the Moose Toys website, I was pleased to see the variety of dolls; they have diverse body shapes and skin tones to stress the message that our differences make us special. I think that little girls are naturally attracted to dolls that look like themselves, so @2Dreami was a perfect fit for my girl. She wanted to open her new doll right away to get started on her makeover.
As you can see, @2Dreami was a hot mess. Her hair was stiff and filled with debris, and her makeup was a bit, well, tragic looking. She obviously had an epic fail following an online beauty tutorial. I think most women and girls have been there before! I really like the human aspect of these dolls and the message that mistakes happen. With a little help, almost everything is fixable.
Included in her packaging was a variety of accessories like earrings, a necklace, shoes, two different outfits, hair jewels and elastics, a brush, a braiding tool, temporary hair color, and a styling chair that also doubles as a doll stand.
We followed the package insert to start our makeover, and began by applying @2Dreami's Magic Spa Mask. Then we got started removing the accessories within her hair and brushing it out.
At this point, we removed her spa mask. You see, there's a second face underneath the failed look.
You simply snap the mask on behind her ears, and then when you remove it, you can unclip her entire messy face to reveal the fresh look (removing the mask and the facepiece at the same time). It's really a smart idea, and this allows the face mask to be applied over and over again. That way the doll can endlessly transform from Fail to Fix.
Isn't she pretty?
Once we got her hair silky smooth, we began applying the hair color. This was really fun for my little lady but you'll definitely want to help younger children apply the color. My girl got a bit of the pink coloring on the dress she was wearing but I'm happy to report that it came right out in the wash. We decided to follow the look on the packaging and split her hair in half and did one-half pink and one-half blue. It took about 30 minutes for the color to dry and then we started styling.
The Mermaid Braid Tool that's included is SO cool. I am not a braid expert by any means, so it was really awesome to watch my 5-year-old create a fishtail braid on her new #FailFix doll.
It was really easy for her to do, and she wanted to braid and re-braid her hair over and over. It kept her busy for quite a while. For me, that's the sign of a really good toy. This doll held her attention for most of the afternoon. I can see why #FailFix was nominated and a Finalist for Toy of the Year in the Doll Category.
The FailFix @2Dreami doll comes with two different outfits so you can create a casual, summery look or a magical evening look that's definitely mermaid inspired. I love that when your child is done being a #STYLESAVIOR they can start all over again. The hair color is washable and they can reapply the Magic Spa Mask to begin the process again.
We loved our FailFix Doll so much that we purchase at our local Walmart, but you can also purchase at Amazon. I think this is going to be a hot holiday toy so definitely get them while you can!.
