EASY Ways to Eliminate Household Chemicals + Products to Replace Them

Since having kids, I've been phasing out all the chemicals in our house and replacing them with less toxic products. Some things have been easier than others to replace, but generally speaking it's been pretty simple and I've loved the results. I've partnered with Babyganics to share some easy ways to eliminate household chemicals and show you what we use now.

    Eliminate Household Chemicals

Before having kids I had really bad asthma. We'd clean our house to have guests over and I'd be wheezing the rest of the day. I didn't correlate my asthma with cleaning products because I thought we were just stirring up a lot of dust. Since replacing the chemicals in our house with more natural products, I no longer suffer from asthma at all! I want to do all I can to prevent my kids from having asthma or being exposed to chemicals in general. We made the easy switch to Babyganics products because they provide a list of ingredients on everything they make. All of their products are plant-based and they are very transparent about the purpose of each ingredient. These are some of the products we use in our household!

    Babyganics Skincare Products

For our Minnesota summers, we need good sunscreen for all those trips to the beach, splash pad, and parks. Babyganics mineral-based sunscreen is our favorite because it's plant-based and contains certified organic ingredients. It's tear-free, non-allergenic, and provides UVA and UVB protection in water for up to 80 minutes! Plus it doesn't contain any PABA, phthalates, parabens, fragrances, or nano-particles. It goes on smoothly and contains Babyganics' 100% Natural NeoNourish® Seed Oil Blend to support babies skin. Babyganics also has options if you prefer spray-on sunscreen or single-use tubes if you prefer to carry less on a trip!

We also use Babyganics DEET-free Insect Repellent and Moisturizing Daily Lotion outdoors. They have many skincare options available to help eliminate household chemicals that are in other products.

    Babyganics Laundry Products

We have been using Babyganics Laundry Detergent since our daughter was an infant and got a rash from our typical detergent. Both of our kids have sensitive skin and have no reaction to Babyganics laundry detergent. I use it for all of our clothes, including my electrician husband's work shirts and jeans, and they come clean every time. Plus, it's concentrated so we use less and can use it as a spot treatment also. For tough spots, we use the fragrance-free Stain Eraser.

    eliminate household chemicals

One of the products we tried recently are the Natural Wool Dryer Balls. I first heard about dryer balls a few years ago but finally got the chance to try them out. They reduce drying time by up to 25% and also soften clothes which eliminates the need for fabric softeners which are usually full of chemicals. Plus, they're sourced from humanely raised sheep on the East Coast.

    eliminate household chemicals

We also frequently use Babyganics fragrance-free Stain & Odor Remover. My kids are constantly getting food, dirt, or other questionable substances on their clothes. We just spray this remover on them for and let them sit for about five minutes before throwing them in the wash, and they come clean! As with all Babyganics products, the Stain & Odor Remover is plant-based and is free from chlorine, parabens, phthalates, sulfates, dyes, and fragrances.

    Babyganics Cleaning Products

Babyganics carries many natural, non-toxic cleaning products for the home. One of my new favorites is the citrus-scented Multi Surface Cleaner. I use it to clean everything - high chairs, counter tops, our table - you name it, I use this cleaner on it. Just shake it up, spray it on, and wipe down with a paper towel.

Another product we've switched to is the citrus-scented Foaming Dish & Bottle Soap. This was probably one of the products that took me longest to switch. I had used the same dish soap my entire life, and I wasn't sure other products could do the job. However, after trying the Foaming Dish & Bottle Soap just once, I was sold. Not only does it have a fresh scent, my dishes come out clean faster because I can put the foaming soap directly on them and use less water. Plus I feel confident in the ingredients and more comfortable with my kids eating and drinking from dishes we've washed.

    Babyganics Bathroom Products

We've been using Babyganics fragrance-free Shampoo + Body Wash since our kids were babies. They love how the soap foams and they can squeeze it out themselves. Some soaps can be drying, but Babyganics uses their NeoNourish Seed Oil to moisturize and support skin. It's non-allergenic and tear-free!

    eliminate household chemicals

We also recently switched to Babyganics Watermelon Flouride-Free Toothpaste. Safe to use from infancy, I love that my kids can use this toothpaste without me worrying about them ingesting questionable ingredients. Of course, ideally they don't ingest any. With two kids under five, I'm sure some gets swallowed though. One thing to note about this toothpaste is that it's a gel and it comes out fairly quickly. The clear color surprised me at first but our kids don't mind it at all!

    Babyganics Diapering Products

We made the switch to Babyganics Diapering Products when our son was about 6 months old, and my only regret is that we didn't switch sooner.

    eliminate household chemicals

It only makes sense to use gentle wipes on our babies most sensitive areas. Babyganics Face, Hand & Baby Wipes are full of plant-based, hydrating ingredients that are non-allergenic. Not only do they work great for diaper changes, they're also safe for wiping dirty little hands and faces.

    eliminate household chemicals

Our son is now in size 4 Babyganics Ultra Absorbent Diapers and we've been so happy with them over the past year. He's 26 pounds and these fit great and he never leaks, even overnight. They're free from chlorine, latex, petroleum based lotions and fragrances. After using these, I won't buy any other diapers!

Overall, making the switch to more natural products was pretty simple for us. Babyganics makes it easy to eliminate household chemicals because they carry products for every area of your home. You can purchase Babyganics products from Amazon and Target!

    What products are your favorites?

Disclosure: I received these items from Babyganics at no cost to faciliate an honest review and share how to eliminate household chemicals from your home. As always, all opinions are my own.
