Over the years, I've used a number of different strollers, from umbrella-style to luxury, jogger, and double, and I find that for every kind of need you might have, there is the perfect stroller for that occasion. Depending on your terrain, your activity, and the size and number of your children, you're going to want a certain type of stroller. At no cost to facilitate this review, I was able to test the Delta Children Max Ultimate Stroller, and I've concluded that this is a rockstar of a stroller for the mom on the town who needs a reliable, extremely durable stroller with a small footprint.
Without a garage, a large car trunk, or even a big enough hall closet to store big strollers, we need something that collapses small and can be lifted up a few flights of stairs, hoisted onto subway cars, and can still withstand pot-holes and uneven city sidewalks like a boss. This Max Ultimate Stroller fits the bill in every way.
While this stroller is considered a folding design compact stroller, is has a SOLID construction. Its folded dimensions are not much bigger than a standard $20 umbrella stroller, but it is made of a substantial metal frame and weighs a whopping 18 pounds. This is quite an ideal weight for me, because I can hoist it easily into a car trunk or up the stairs, but it is so well made and sturdy enough to hold children up to 45 pounds.
My husband likes how tall the handles are, and though they are not height-adjustable, I can't get over how much I love the cushy handle bars. The canopy has a lock-in feature which keeps the cover out and open in even the toughest wind, and the front wheels have can swivel but also have a locking mechanism.
Another feature that makes this the ideal souped-up umbrella stroller is the amount of storage underneath, which is typically a rare find on a compact stroller like this. The space is sufficient for a diaper bag, an extra coat, and a few other small items.
Perhaps my all-time favorite feature of mine is the way it opens and collapses:
To close, simply pull up on the back middle handle and it folds in one easy move. This is my kind of stroller.
This stroller features a multi-position recline, meaning it can be set at an undefined number of different positions based on how loose or tight you adjust the toggle in the back. I like the quiet and unjerky nature of this feature, which allows the child to keep sleeping contently while the position is adjusted.
I'm really impressed with the number of features and most of all, the sturdy strong frame that this stroller embodies. Because of the size and the price, I can really recommend this stroller as a economical choice, especially because it can be used for an infant up to a 45-pound child. I love that this stroller can be appropriate be all three of my kids, from 10 pounds to 45 pounds!
Also from Delta Children's comes this Elmo Giggling Upholstered Chair, which we also received at no cost to facilitate this review, and has become the favorite place to sit of all time.
My boys practically race to be the first one to sit in it in the morning. While it might look like a foam-filled seat, this is actually an entirely upholstered, heavy, solid chair. It feels like it is constructed just like a larger legitimate adult-sized upholstered chair would be. This means that the cover cannot be taken off to machine-wash, but the upholstery fabric feels like it can repel stains and spot wash easily.
The chair sits on four screwed-on legs, one of which came loose after using it for several weeks, but I acknowledge that my boys are rowdier than most and I don't think this is a structural problem but merely a screw that came loose after some rough boy play. This chair is intended for ages 3-6, and with my boys being "almost 3" and a "large 4", I'd say that's about right.
A button on the armrest plays Elmo's giggle when pressed, which isn't terribly loud or obnoxious, and the noise can be avoided altogether by simply not pulling the tab underneath the seat that activates the sound feature.
The material is soft, the structure is sound, the color is vibrant, and the face is friendly! What's not to love about it?
If your child loves to sit and read or watch movies, I can bet they'd just fall in love with a character chair from Delta Children. You can find other favorites like Disney/Pixar, Doc Mcstuffins, Frozen, Mickey Mouse, Star Wars, and many more!
Buy it: You can purchase the Max Ultimate Stroller for $49.99 at Target (as well as other retailers) and the Elmo Giggling Upholstered Chair from retailers like Target for $69.99.
