Calavera swimwear was founded in 2010 by international banker-turned-swimsuit designer Anna Jerstrom. After just one trip to Costa Rica, Jerstrom fell in love with surfing and set out to create a bikini that was feminine and flattering, yet would perform under the most rigorous surf conditions. She definitely succeeded! Simply put, Calavera swimsuits look good and stay put!
I was extremely excited about the opportunity to review one of Calavera's amazing swimsuits. Since having a baby, the shape of my body has changed and my swimsuits just don't fit like they used to. While I won't be riding the curls in Costa Rica, I will be wrangling a small child around a pool this summer, and I want a bathing suit that fits and stays in place. I don't want to have to worry about tugging my suit back in place while holding a slippery little one.
I selected the Glam Twist Top in Red and the Siren Full Bottom in Black:
The Glam Twist Top is a new twist on your favorite bikini top! The twisted fabric really accentuates your curves and is super flattering! This top features a tight elastic band under the bust to provide amazing support and to prevent the top from moving or shifting. Calavera has expertly designed this suit to reduce stretching and tension on the traditional pressure points of a bikini top by using internally reinforced nylon string and securing it both across the back and around the trunk. The criss-crossing straps mean no fussing with straps that slide off your shoulder. The back also features a shoe lace closure system to provide extra security and for easy tightening. You won't have any wardrobe malfunctions in this top - it will stay put!
I also chose the Siren Full Bottom in black. I love bottoms where I can adjust the fit through the tied sides. That way I can adjust them tighter for more rigorous activity, or loosen them up to prevent the dreaded muffin top. These bottoms feature a rubberized lining to stabilize the material and secure the fit - while that sounds like it might be uncomfortable, don't worry, the lining is soft and super comfortable. There is also a hidden, non-elastic string to secure the bottoms in place. This string can be adjusted and hidden out of site but is such an awesome security feature! The back of the suit also has a pucker of gathered fabric that really flatters your bottom. The Siren Full Bottoms are comfortable and truly stay in place. They do not budge!
