Potty-training is not my favorite stage of motherhood. It actually wasn't all that bad when we took the plunge with our toddler, and he caught on really quick, but because he's such an intensely deep sleeper at night, we left "night potty training" for later. Later is now, and its not so much fun. I decided that if I was going to be changing an exceptional number of sheets soon, I needed some sort of sheet protector or mat or anything that was going to make these middle-of-the-night bed re-makings less of a horrible chore. I've found an excellent solution with Brolly Sheets! These sheets are exceptional and absolutely perfect for the trainee, and I'm thrilled to show and tell you more about them.
At no cost to facilitate this review, Brolly Sheets sent a 3-pack of these waterproof mattress bed pads with wings. They consist of a soft cotton top, a maximum absorbent middle layer, and a waterproof polyurethane backing on bottom. Because they are waterproof AND absorbent, you aren't sitting in a pile of moisture all night. They can hold an impressive 67 ounces of liquid over an 8 hour period, while still remaining completely dry underneath the pad.
The top is 100% cotton, so it feels soft, natural, and just like the sheets the boys are used to sleeping on. I've never seen sheet protectors with these side wings before, and they are an excellent addition. Because toddlers can be so active, even in their sleep, the wings help keep the mattress pad in place, close to their sheets, without bunching or folding underneath rolling bodies. The amount of 'wing' on each side is large enough to easily tuck in and get a good, secure hold. I love the fun gingham!!
These pads stay in place quite well at night, and they really work great! "Rocket" is still working on night training, and while he's doing better each night, I still have to make up a new dry bed several times a week. Not having to make up an entire bed is saving my back!! At 3am, I am SO grateful to be able to just pull off this Brolly Sheet and tuck in another dry one. It is saving me precious sleep time and the physical hassle of making up an entire bed.
The pictures here show the sheets straight out of the packaging, but the more I wash them, the softer and obviously less wrinkled they look. The quilted top, made with premium stitching, allows the absorbent layers to stay in place after hundreds of washings. I've probably washed each of these 3-4 times already, and they really hold up their shape, vibrant color, and structure. These will work great on Twin beds, toddler beds, baby cribs, and even come in Queen bed size.
I was a little surprised and completely pleased with how my kids accepted these sheet protectors from the first night. Usually they are hesitant to try new things, especially when it involves their bedtime routine, but they were perfectly fine with having these on top of their beds. I think the fun colors, soft fabric, and quiet performance have a lot to do with it.
These sheets are available individually, or in 2 or 3 packs. I strongly recommend getting a pack of these linens so that you can always have a spare clean one on hand when it becomes necessary to change them out in the middle of the night.
Buy it: You can purchase an individual sheet for $29.95 with wings, and $19.95 without wings. A 3-pack, Twin size, with wings, like the pack we reviewed, is sold for $62.90. You can purchase the packs in Twin or Queen size, with or without wings, on the Brolly Sheets website.
Disclosure: I (Camille) received a 3-pack of Brolly Sheets at no cost to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own and may differ from yours.
