Once I became a mom, I realized that I'd always carry a little piece of my little one with me. He's never far from my mind, so when A Jewelry Crush contacted me about reviewing their "Close to Your Heart" necklace, I felt like it was a perfect fit for me. A custom, hand stamped necklace bearing my little one's nickname sounded perfect, and just in time for Mother's Day! A Jewelry Crush was nice enough to send me one at no cost to facilitate this review.
A Jewelry Crush was created by Jenn, a woman with a knack for design. She started crafting jewelry from an early age and since then her "crush" has become her business. Her one-time hobby has flourished into an entire line of custom jewelry that's made by hand and with love from her California studio. The pieces from AJC are simple, elegant, and easy-to-wear. By weaving precious gemstones with delicate gold designs, each item is designed to make women feel beautiful.
Once I received my package from A Jewelry Crush and opened the small white gift box, I immediately fell in love.
As you can see, I had my necklace stamped with my son's nickname, "Wubba". Since he was born in June, I chose pearls as my gemstone of choice. I envisioned the necklace being delicate and feminine, and it exceeded my every expectation.
The necklace itself is 21 inches long, made from gold fill, and features a beautiful front closure. I absolutely love the front closure. It's such a classy touch. Hanging from my necklace are three delicate pearls (although you can choose your gemstones) and a pendant bearing the word "Wubba". Each pendant from A Jewelry Crush is hand made from 10K gold, hand cut and hand stamped, so it's completely custom and unique. The pendant is usually about one inch in length, but this will vary slightly depending on the length of the name being stamped.
A Jewelry Crush can create three finishes on the pendant, either brushed, matte, or polished. Mine is polished and I'm super happy with how it looks. As I said earlier, each piece is hand stamped and they offer three different font sizes, all capital letters, in either small, medium, or large. Mine is medium.
The necklace length is just a tad long on me and the pendant migrates into my cleavage a bit, so for these photos I positioned the chain a little further down on my neck so the pendant wasn't hanging down too far (I was trying to keep this photo shoot PG if you know what I mean). If I let it just fall naturally it hangs about one inch lower, which is indeed closer to my heart. I discussed this with Jenn and she said that the necklace is completely customizable, so you can request a short necklace if you'd like.
Overall, I'm extremely pleased with this necklace. It's gorgeous, delicate, feminine, and exactly what I wanted. I love that I can wear this on casual days or with dressier outfits. It's really a versatile piece, but best of all, it bears the word wubba and keeps it close to my heart.
