Are you searching for Craft Beer Gift Baskets for Men? I was too and found out they were REALLY expensive. I decided to take matters into my own hands and create awesome craft beer gift baskets myself and I made a free printable gift tag for you to use too!
Craft Beer Gift Baskets for Men
When the holidays roll around, I try to give personal gifts as often as possible. My husband's partners at work are really into craft beers so I thought I'd look for craft beer gift baskets for men and see what I could find. What I found were super expensive gift baskets that would range from $60 for 6 beers to $140 for 12 beers, and that didn't include shipping.
Well, my husband's partners live locally so I figured I'd make my own craft beer gift baskets and hand deliver them instead. I ran to our local Total Wine & More and marveled at the selection of beer. It was pretty amazing. I decided that I'd buy 12 different 6-packs and split them evenly among the 3 guys. That way, each guy would end up with 2 beers from each pack (24 beers total). I spent a total of $120 on 12 6-packs (after a 10% coupon discount).
Then, I headed over to Michaels to gather some supplies to create the gift baskets. I found some fantastic wooden crates for only $10 each (be sure to get something sturdy since 24 beers can be pretty heavy). These crates are made of unfinished pine and measure 12 ½" x 9 ⅝" x 17 ⅞". I love that they're unfinished so they look a little more crafty and rustic. These crates are only sold in stores, but THIS ONE on Amazon is as close to a match as I could find for you.
I also got some shredded paper for gift baskets. These cost me $3.99 each (per 4 ounces) and I needed 2 bags per crate. This is a better deal on Amazon if you'd prefer to get it there and they've got a ton of different colors. I was really limited since I was shopping in-store. I also picked up 1.5" wide ribbon (be sure to get the kind with wire so they're sturdier for making bows) - THIS ONE is the brand that I bought. I got 3 spools that were 25 feet each, but only ended up needing 2 spools for the 3 baskets I made. This is optional, but I thought galvanized metal letters would personalize the beer gift baskets that much more. They were just $2.50 each and add a great rustic touch.
For the crates, shredded paper, ribbon and letters, I spent about $63. I probably could have done better with the shredded paper if I planned in advance and bought some items during sales cycles, but this really wasn't too bad to me.
The crates are pretty deep and I found that the tops of the bottles wouldn't peek out, so I decided to elevate the beers a bit by using a cardboard box. This was also a necessary step to keep the shredded paper fill from falling through the cracks in the bottom of the crate. Total Wine & More packaged my 6-packs up in beer boxes and these were perfectly sized for the crates (SCORE!). Grab a few while you're at the package store of your choice.
I taped the box shut and then I took a box cutter and used the bottom slat as a guide to cut the box.
This is what I ended up with it. I did the same for the other 2 craft beer gift baskets I was making.
After that, I added the shredded paper. I was really pleased with the boost in height from the cardboard box placed at the bottom. Without that, the baskets looked a little sad.
Then, I loaded up the beers I bought, placing 2 of each kind in each crate. I tried to get a variety of beers, including a stout, a Saison, an IPA, a lager, a hefeweizen, etc.
Next, I tied the ribbon in a bow. It was really nothing fancy, but I looped it around the slat so it would stay in place. Then I added another length of ribbon to secure the galvanized initial, and I tied that in a bow.
To add a fun gift tag to the craft beer gift baskets, I created one! I decided to go with "Merry Christmas and Happy New Beer!"
Click HERE for the Merry Christmas and Happy New Year tag pictured,
and click HERE for one that's a little darker red and also has a "From:" spot on the bottom.
In total, I spent $120 on beer and $63 on basket supplies. That's about $61 per basket. Compared with other 24 beer gift baskets out there, this is a bargain! I think any beer lover would love this gift.
I'm thrilled with how these craft beer gift baskets turned out!
