The Perfect Easel for Kids - The Step2 Jumbo Art Easel

This post may contain affiliate links. Click here for more information.

I love doing art projects with my kids because it's a fun way to watch their creativity emerge and they take so much pride in their work. It will be so much fun to save their artwork to show them as they get older. I know I enjoy seeing the projects my mom kept for me! Check out my review of the perfect easel for kids, the Step2 Jumbo Art Easel, and all of the different ways it can be used to make art.

    easel for kids

Thanks to Step2 for letting us try out the Jumbo Art Easel for kids!

This amazing easel arrived on the doorstep and our three-year-old was SO excited to get it out of the box and set it up. There were eight pieces to assemble and it only took me about fifteen minutes to put it together. You'll need a Phillips-head screwdriver for assembly. It wasn't difficult to put together by myself but it would have been easier with one more person or with a power drill instead of a screwdriver.

Step2 Jumbo Art Easel for Kids

There are two sides to the easel-one side has a white board and includes two clips for holding up paper.

    Step2 Jumbo Art Easel

The other side is a chalkboard. There's room for at least two children on each side which is especially great for a growing family or a daycare setting.

    Step2 Jumbo Art Easel

I love all the storage on this easel. Our art supplies (which need to be purchased separately) haven't had a permanent spot until now but there's plenty of room for them. The Step2 Jumbo Art Easel comes with four blue bins, two bigger green bins, and a large storage area at the bottom to keep paper, coloring books, etc.

    Step2 Jumbo Art Easel

We filled up the blue bins with some of our art supplies so the kids have easy access while they're using the easel. The green bins could be used for stickers, sponges, stamps, or anything else larger that won't fit in the blue bins.

    Step2 Jumbo Art Easel

We tried out the chalkboard side first and because our daughter has been learning to write her name, so I wrote it out in chalk for her to copy. When we try to do this on paper she usually runs out of room so the over-sized chalkboard was perfect for her to practice.

    Step2 Jumbo Art Easel

After we played with the chalkboard side for a bit she decided she wanted to paint, so we brought out our watercolors.

    Step2 Jumbo Art Easel

She clipped the paper up herself with the little yellow holders-they kept it in place very well, unlike other clips I've seen.

    Step2 Jumbo Art Easel

She insisted on holding the orange cup (the easel comes with four!) and we filled it with water, but it would also be great for paint or just holding crayons for easy access. The cups actually have holders on the easel which are perfect for kids who may not want to hold them.

    Step2 Jumbo Art Easel

She also tried out coloring on the easel and she seemed to have more control than she does when she colors at the table. I like that I don't have to worry about her coloring ON the table-if she slips off the paper we can just use a wet paper towel to clean it off.

    Step2 Jumbo Art Easel

There are so many features I love about this easel but one of the biggest is that it can grow with a family. When our seven-month-old gets bigger and wants to use the easel there will be more than enough room for both of them and even a couple of friends. The storage is bountiful and the whole thing is easy to wash.

I'd definitely recommend this easel for kids if your little ones love art
or if you want them to love it even more!

BUY IT: You can buy the Step2 Jumbo Art Easel on the Step2 site for $99.99 or Amazon.com.

WIN IT: One person will win a Jumbo Art Easel from our friends at Step2!
