Idea For New Moms: Letters to Baby

As you're preparing for the arrival of your new baby, here's a great idea for expecting parents - write letters to baby to document this time and your love for your new little one.

    letters to baby

I've partnered with Huggies for this post.

Just one year ago I was anticipating the arrival of my little girl. Last Mother's Day, I was in my 34th week of pregnancy and little did I know that my beautiful daughter would be born just 9 days later. When I sit back and remember that time my heart just swells. I felt like I would burst at the seams (literally and figuratively!) with excitement just thinking about meeting her. After seeing the brand new "Letters to Baby" video presented by Huggies Little Snugglers, I only wish I'd written a letter to her to memorialize those feelings forever.

Watch the beautiful Letters to Baby video here:

When I sit back and think, those memories rush back and I remember how happy I was during that pregnancy. My son was just about to turn 3 years old and we definitely felt ready to add a new little one to our family. My letter to baby would read something like this:

    Dear Baby,

Your dad and I feel so lucky that we get to meet you soon. Your big brother is so excited to welcome you into this world. He asks me everyday when you might be coming and I know he's going to be such a big helper. I hope the two of you become best friends and know that you can count on one another for your entire lives.

I can't wait to see your little face, hold your tiny hands and kiss your sweet cheeks. I know our family will be complete once you're in my arms. I hope that you like to be held because I have a feeling I won't be putting you down very often. I'm so ready to rock you to sleep and sing those lullabies that I sang to your big brother.

You are already so loved. I'll see you soon.

    Love, Mom

What would your Letter to Baby say?
    I'd love to know!

I would write to her to tell her why we named her 'Love' and how Mommy had two hearts in her body at once and was filled with such a great love for her. Also love the idea of how Mommy and daddy met. I would tell her all the ways I was grateful to god for blessing her into my life and how much I had prayed for her.

I would include information about mommy and daddy. Things they like and things they did when they were kids. I think it would be interesting for a child to read when they get a little older. I think I may write a letter to my very first grandchild that will be here in June.

I would add that she always had the hiccups when I was pregnant with her. I just had a baby girl on 4/14 and it's one of the things I miss!

Besides having her hand prints next to mine and her feet, I would make a remark that you may only have been small enough to be help in the palm of my hand at one time, but no matter how much you have grown know that you can sit in mommies lap any time..

This is such a precious idea. I wish I'd done this earlier and written one on each of her birthdays- including the day she was born. If I wrote one before she was born I'd tell her how much her daddy and I wanted a child, how long and how hard we'd worked to bring her into the world, and just how humbled we are to get to be her parents!

I have had 6 kids and Id tell my kids in a letter that each one of them is a miracle and each their own person. No matter what they find on their journeys to never forget that and to stop comparing. Each has a different dream!
