Stokke Scoot Review! Stroll in style with this fabulous stroller!

    stokke scoot review
Having a good stroller is essential to me. We're on the go a lot and after using several strollers I can say without a doubt that bigger is not always better. I'm somewhat petite and some strollers have proven to be a bit difficult for me to lift in and out of my SUV. When  I laid eyes on the Stokke® Scoot™, I was immediately smitten. Not only was it gorgeous, it was billed as a "compact urban stroller". It sounded like a dream, so I was beyond thrilled when Stokke® sent me Scoot™ to review.

Stokke® is a Norwegian company that provides worldwide distribution of products that are designed "In the best interest of the child."  Each Stokke product is developed to stimulate the child's ongoing development through their ability to allow the bond between parent and child to grow through strong visual contact and interaction. They create unique, functional and long‐lasting products that are attractively designed with a wide variety of accessories to provide, support, and promote well-being for both parent and child.

When our new Stokke® Scoot™ arrived, I was impressed by the small box!

    Stokke Scoot Stroller

Stokke® Scoot™ is not kidding when they describe this stroller as compact. Right out of the box, I could tell this stroller was going to live up to that term. The assembly process was rather simple. The Stokke Scoot comes with a large instruction manual (large because it's mainly diagrams and written in several languages) that guides you step by step. Once I got my new Scoot assembled, I took a moment to bask in it's beauty. Overdramatic? Maybe a little, but I can definitely appreciate the beauty of a lovely piece of baby gear!

    Stokke Scoot Stroller

Let's start off by discussing the seat on the Stokke® Scoot™. The seat on this stroller is wide and pretty roomy. It's got a great 5 point harness that's easy to use, but complicated enough that your toddler won't easily be able to undo it. The shoulder straps are adjustable and there are three different shoulder height points. It's very easy to rethread the shoulder straps through an access panel on the back. I love that there are pads on the straps to prevent them from digging into that tender little neck area. That's a big plus for me!

    Stokke Scoot Stroller

The Scoot's seat is unique in that it can be attached either forward facing or rear facing. This is such a fantastic feature! When you have a small baby, you'll want to keep him or her in your direct line of vision so you'll want them rear facing. As you baby gets older, they will want to explore their surrounding and you can place them forward facing. That's what's so wonderful about Stokke® products - they are designed to grow with your child. Another great feature of the seat is that it sits higher than a lot of other strollers, so you can actually utilize your stroller instead of a high chair while you're out and about. This stroller perfectly "scoots" right up to the table so you can enjoy your meals together. There is no bumper bar or tray included with this stroller, but there is a cut-out and female adapter located on the side of the seat. Maybe one will be available in the future.

    Stokke Scoot Seat

As you can see in the photos above, the seat on the Scoot reclines so there are four different positions for your child. Rear facing active, rear facing rest, forward facing active, and forward facing rest. The footrest even pops on and off too, so it correlates with the seating position you've chosen for your child. It's super easy to switch the seat from rear to forward facing and vice versa. Just locate the lever on each  side of the seat and squeeze it to unlock the seat from the frame. Then, just pull the seat upwards to detach it and switch positions.

    Stokke Scoot Seat Position

To recline the seat, you'll just locate the circular releases on the back of the seat. Just squeeze the sides of each one, unhook, and the seat will go from active to rest (upright to reclined).

    Stokke Scoot Canopy

The water repellant canopy on the Stokke® Scoot™ is wonderful. Instead of a peak-a-boo window, there is a hidden mesh panel that can be unzipped and snapped open to allow for ventilation and to prevent your child from overheating. You can utilize this as your peek-a-boo window when baby is forward facing. The canopy is a good size to allow adequate protection from the sun, but still allows your child to visualize their surroundings. There is a fabulous visor that attaches to the front of the canopy for extra protection. This easily zips on and off.

    Stokke Scoot Stroller
The handle on the Scoot is adjustable and telescopes upward a bit so you can find a comfortable position based on your height.
    Stokke Scoot handlebar

The handlebar features foam padding and there is a removable cup holder that easily slides into place. This is the same cup holder that is used on the Stokke®Xplory™ stroller, but you don't need to use the adapter pieces for the Scoot.

    Stokke Scoot cup holder

The storage basked on the Stokke® Scoot™ is quite adequate. It fits my diaper bag with absolutely no problems and I love how you can access the basket from all sides of the stroller.

    Stokke Scoot Basket Storage

Now, let's talk about how this stroller moves! The Scoot is very easy to maneuver in tight spaces thanks to it's compact size and swiveling wheels. Of course, the front wheels also lock straight in case you're facing rough or bumpy terrain. And, when you're finished strolling or taking a rest, the brake system on this stroller couldn't be easier. There's a crossbar located between the two back wheels that allows for single brake action. Just push the orange brake tab up to release the brakes, and down to lock the brakes in place. This crossbar is perfectly placed so it doesn't restrict your stride at all. The wheels also pop off and on fairly easily to allow for an even more compact fold. You can see the wheels a little closer in the photos below. They are made of a soft material (the wheel treat is slightly squishable and rubbery, not hard plastic) so you don't run the risk of puncture or blow outs.

    Stokke Scoot brakes wheels

My FAVORITE accessory of this gorgeous stroller is the included mosquito net! Living in Florida, a mosquito net is an absolute must-have. For my other strollers, I have a generic elasticized netting that doesn't fit all that well but works universally with most strollers. The net included with the Scoot is perfection. It fits the stroller to a tee and allows for plenty of room for your child to be be comfortable. It easily attaches by snaps located on the seat and via hooks underneath the front of the stroller.

    Stokke Scoot bug

Another amazing feature of the Scoot is the rain cover. Yes, the stroller also comes with an included rain cover! Again, this is very easy to put on. It just slips over the top of the canopy and then the bottom attaches to hooks under the front of the stroller by the front wheels. There are great ventilation holes so your child will be cool with plenty and have fresh air.

    Stokke Scoot rain

Now, let's talk about folding. I don't know about you, but I hate wrestling my stroller in the parking lot when I'm finished strolling. I've used several strollers with complicated folding mechanisms and honestly I dread using them. The Stokke® Scoot™ has perfected the science of stroller folding. The Scoot offers an easy, one-handed fold. Just flip the seat bottom upwards, no matter if the seat is forward facing or rear-facing, and locate the release under the seat. Just slide the lever over with your thumb and press down. The stroller will give way and fold up nice and compactly.

    Stokke Scoot fold

In the photo above you can see just how compact this stroller is. It takes up SO much less room in my cargo area than my other strollers. The stroller is not the lightest I've used, weighing in at about 23 pounds, but it certainly isn't the heaviest and I have no problem handling it.

    Stokke Scoot Stroller

We are really enjoying our Stokke® Scoot™ stroller! I love the sleek and modern look of this stroller and it's compact size is making my life easier. My little guy seems comfy and content and is definitely riding in style!

I loved the review - I think what I love most is the brand, as you said they are always thinking ahead and making sure their products are adaptable as the child gets older. I also love that it includes the mosquito net and rain cover - so many stroller companies have these as additional costs which is so silly because they should be included in the cost with the stroller since everyone will need

I keep hearing about how amazing these strollers are. I am pregnant with baby #3 and would love to get a new stroller for her. I love how you can decide to have your baby be rear facing or forward facing. I like to have the baby facing me when they are young and then turn them when they around about 1 year-1 1/2 years old. I love having the option!

I really like just about everything about this stroller except for one thing; no available second seat. Other than that I have always wanted this kind of stroller. With the forward or back facing seat and easy access cargo. My current stroller I can't get anything larger than a small wallet past the frame into the basket unless the seat is straight up, at which time I can get a large wallet/small purse in it.

the stokke HandySitt. one of our favorite pizza places has something similar instead of booster seats and i LOVE using it. my toddler refuses both the highchair and the booster seat (which isn't safe for her anyway) and it makes me crazy! but she'll sit in the "booster" styled like the HandySitt. i'd love my own.

The Stokke stroller is the best compact stroller I've seen. I currently have a clunky stoller/travel systeme that takes all my trunk space and is just so difficult to fold and unfold. I also love the forward facing option, sometimes my 4 month old begins to get fussy when we are out and the only thing that calms him is having me in his view.

I am 5 feet and our stroller just eats me up...and dont get me started with trying to put it into our trunk, which is a Civic trunk (so its smaller also). This would be a dream for me esp when I am by myself for walks and all. My husband usually takes care of our stroller when we are out and about. With this I would feel confident that I can

Oh...my...gosh...I'M SOLD! I'm so putting this 'FABU' stroller on my registry. I need something compact, FOR SURE. My vehicle is not that big so this stroller is right up my alley. And...I really like the 5-point harness. All this stroller needs is a roll-cage, huh? Just kidding! Honestly though, safety is my #1 priority when it comes to my little one (edd 6/10/14).
Thank you SO MUCH for this awesome review and making me aware of this awesome product. I can hardly wait to see it in person!

That was a very thorough review, thank you! I love the ease of access to the basket underneath. My current stroller lacks that ease and it bothers me a lot. I also love the one handed fold. I live in NYC and travel primarily on the bus. When I am holding my baby I can't struggle with trying to fold a stroller, I need something nice and easy to fold, that won't make me drop the baby. I think I will be checking this stroller out in the store. Thanks!

Strollers are so much nicer and more practical from when my children were small. I love the sounds and looks of this one! It would have been great to have one lighter and more easily folded and opened. It also looks more comfortable for the child riding in it! I like the storage space below the seat too, so much room for all the necessities we have to carry along with a baby or small child. I really would love to win this for my grand daughter who is expecting her first baby. It would so nice to have this beautiful, efficient stroller to give her. The fact that this stroller can face mom or face out is a bug plus in my book. I want my baby to be able to see me when she is small . Also compact size a eat bonus because I have a shoulder injury and getting a big bulky stroller in and out of the car is hard on me.

The thing that seems most amazing about this stroller if I were to win it is that it would be the perfect city commuting stroller. I live in Jersey City and work in NYC. The fact that this is so compact, light, and easy to use makes it the perfect stroller for hauling up stairs to my apartment, onto subways, into cabs....I love it! I also find that the fact that you can have your child facing towards you or out is a huge selling point. Most strollers that are on the lower price end only face out, I would love for my baby to be able to fact me until she's a bit older. Crossing fingers and toes!! xo
