I've teamed up with the Netflix #StreamTeam for this post.
I used to be an avid TV watcher. I'd catch my weekly shows and my DVR would be overflowing with other juicy shows to watch. I was a pop-culture superstar... then I had a kid, and for me, recreational television watching got pushed to the wayside. I just couldn't keep up so I went without watching any shows for over two years (TWO YEARS?!). By the end of the day I was wiped out and my husband and I never seemed to be in the same place at the same time for sitting down and enjoying some evening TV time. Thankfully, all that changed when I joined the Netflix Stream Team and began having streaming capabilities. A fabulous selection of television shows and movies at my fingertips at any time of the day? YES, please! Now we can pick and choose when we want to watch our favorite shows, and we've started binge-watching 3-4 episodes a night after our little guy goes to bed. It's lovely!
Here are a few suggestions for you... nine actually,
of binge-worthy shows you should catch on Netflix right now:
House of Cards: I am addicted to this show and cannot wait for season 3 to begin on February 27th! This Emmy-winning original Netflix series stars Golden Globe winner Kevin Spacey as ruthless, cunning Congressman Francis Underwood, who will stop at nothing to conquer the halls of power in Washington D.C. His secret weapon: his gorgeous, ambitious, and equally conniving wife Claire (Golden Globe winner Robin Wright).
Breaking Bad: I love waiting until a series ends to binge-watch all of it in one consecutive streak and that's what you can do with Breaking Bad. A high school chemistry teacher dying of cancer teams with a former student to secure his family's future by manufacturing and selling crystal meth in this drama that spanned 5 seasons.
The Walking Dead: You can catch the first 4 seasons of this series on Netflix. The Walking Dead follows those in the wake of a zombie apocalypse. Survivors hold on to the hope of humanity by banding together to wage a fight for their own survival. Even if you're not into "zombie" flicks or sci-fi, there's a good chance you're going to like this one.
Sons of Anarchy: Catch the first 6 seasons of Sons of Anarchy. After seizing control of its town, gun-running motorcycle club the Sons of Anarchy soon butts heads with rival biker gangs, racist groups and the law. Everyone I've talked to about this show was hooked after just a few episodes.
Revenge: You can watch the first 3 seasons of Revenge right now to see how a young woman moves to the Hamptons and charms the pants off her new neighbors... all while plotting their downfall for sins committed against her family.
Friends: Oh Friends, how I love and miss you. Watch all 1o seasons of this hit sitcom that follows the merry misadventures of six 20-something pals as they navigate the pitfalls of work, life and love in 1990s Manhattan. I've probably seen every episode 10+ times, but this series never gets old.
Parenthood: You can start watching the first 5 seasons of Parenthood on Netflix right now. In Parenthood, four grown siblings juggle parenthood, relationships, careers and more as they cope with life's ups and downs in this drama set in Berkeley, California. This show has been described as utterly brilliant and it just ended in January 2015. Be on the lookout for the final season to be added to Netflix.
The West Wing: An oldie, but a goodie! Binge-watch all 7 seasons of this powerful political epic that chronicles the triumphs and travails of White House senior staff under the administration of President Josiah Bartlet. This is probably one of the best-written series of all time folks!
Scandal: You can stream the first 3 seasons of Scandal right now to watch a powerful team of Washington, D.C. lawyers make scandals disappear while handling government crises and coping with problems of their own. Bonus, you'll get to watch the gorgeous Kerry Washington in action.
What's your favorite show?
What else should I add to my "must stream" list?
Disclosure: I'm a member of the Netflix Stream Team and receive a subscription to their streaming services and a promotional item for participating in the program.

Great post, Ruth! I would so love to binge watch most of these (and have seen at least half). My problem is finding more than an hour a week to catch up on shows. 🙁

If you are looking for a comedy, have been binge watching The Office and Parks and Rec. Of course we all know how great The Office is, but I was surprised at how clever and hilarious Parks and Rec turned out to be after the first season! Oh and also 30 Rock is awesome and getting more and more brilliant each time I watch it. (Yes, I have watched the series at least 3 times...)

I am very guilty of currently binge watching Friends.

If you are looking for a new show to watch The Last Ship is amazing. Friends, Buffy, The Walking Dead are great. Supernatural is another show that will hook you.

The Killing is/was an excellent series. I wish it'd lasted longer.
