The NEW Joovy Scooter Stroller Review

    The NEW Joovy Scooter Stroller

Last month, I got the exciting news that I was chosen to be a Joovy Mom! Ever since receiving a Joovy Scooter in Orangie at my baby shower, I've been hooked on Joovy. They strive to design and manufacture family gear products that are extremely useful, practical, good-looking and FUN. I've always been attracted to the bright, bold fabric options and designs of their products, so being chosen for their blogger program was absolutely thrilling for me. In October of 2013, Joovy released a BRAND NEW Joovy Scooter and they let me be one of the first to try the new design!

I was sent a Joovy Scooter in Blueberry (at no cost to facilitate this review):

    The NEW Joovy Scooter Stroller

The Joovy Scooter requires some assembly, but I was able to put this stroller together by myself in under ten minutes. The directions were clear and very easy to follow. The Joovy Scooter is designed for children 3 months and up, with a maximum weight of 55 pounds. The stroller itself weighs in at 19.5 pounds, which is actually pretty light and definitely manageable for me at 5'3'' with an average build.

Let's begin by looking at the seat of this stroller. Like all Joovy strollers, the seat (and canopy) is made of durable 600D fabric. It's heavy duty and easily wipeable which is perfect when dealing with children. There is a reversible, washable padded seat liner with fleece on one side and 600D fabric on the other for your child's comfort. This is a really nice feature - the pad is plush and the fleece is super soft and cozy. If you have a super messy situation on your hands, the entire seat can be removed and washed. There are in-seat mesh pockets for your child's various essentials likes toys, snacks, bottles, and sippy cups.

    The NEW Joovy Scooter Stroller

The seat on the Scooter is very roomy. It includes an adjustable 5 point harness system and there are 3 height adjustments for the shoulder straps. The shoulder straps are padded for comfort and to prevent the straps from digging into your child's tender neck. My little guy seems comfortable and content when riding in his new Joovy Scooter. The recline system remains the same on this model when compared to the previous version. There's an easy adjustable sliding mechanism on the back of the seat that allows you to control the angle of the seat. It can adjust to almost any position and can lay at 149° for a near flat napping position. Joovy includes a bumper bar and the cover is removable and washable for your convenience.

    The NEW Joovy Scooter Stroller

The Scooter has a very cool, two-position adjustable footrest. It can either sit standard, or there is a flap underneath that can be velcro'd around the bumper bar to extend the footrest flat for nap time.

    The NEW Joovy Scooter Stroller

The canopy of the Joovy Scooter is fantastic. It's also made of the durable 600D fabric with light-reflective strips and it's huge! The canopy can be completely removed from the stroller, but with all of it's great features I'm not sure you'd actually want to remove it. It's got four panels and features a peek-a-boo window with velcro closure and a really neat elastic and toggle to keep it open. The back of the canopy has a mesh cup holder and awesome zippered storage compartment (8”x8”x2”) for your essentials. The back of the canopy sort of hangs free, but this allows for adequate shading when the seat is in the recline position. There is also a removable cup holder that attaches to the stroller frame for even more drink storage (seen in the photos below).

    The NEW Joovy Scooter Stroller

The storage basket on the Scooter is large and adequately fits a packed diaper bag. Your access to the storage basket will be blocked if the seat is reclined, but there is a great zipper access panel so you can still get into the storage basket when necessary without interrupting your sleeping child. You can see the easy one-step parking brake located on the back wheels in the photo below.

    The NEW Joovy Scooter Stroller

The plastic wheels on the Scooter have sealed bearings for easy pushing and handling. The 4-wheel suspension helps smooth out the bumps you may encounter while strolling.  The front wheels are equipped with a swivel lock so you can better navigate rough terrain.

The handlebar on the new Joovy Scooter is a total upgrade from the previous model. The foam wrapped handle bar on the new Scooter is completely adjustable with 10 different positions. The handle bar height ranges from 29” to 41.75” high, so everyone should be able to find a position that's comfortable for them.

    The NEW Joovy Scooter Stroller

Lastly, let's talk about the stroller in the folded position. There's a quick trigger fold with in-seat carry handle so you can easily fold and transport your stroller. Thanks to the automatic chassis lock, your stroller will remain folded until you're ready to unlock it and stroll again. The Joovy Scooter will even stand upright when folded so you'll have more storage options. You can also pop off the quick release front wheels if you're really tight on space.

    The NEW Joovy Scooter Stroller

If you have an infant, there is an optional car seat adapter that is sold separately. It's compatible with certain Graco, Peg Perego, and  Chicco car seat models and will attach in place of the bumper bar. Likewise, there is an optional child's tray that is sold separately if you prefer having a tray over the bumper bar.

After using the Joovy Scooter for a few weeks, I'm definitely impressed. Joovy has done such a wonderful job with the design of this stroller and I'm very happy with it! I think the Wubba is too!

    The NEW Joovy Scooter Stroller

Buy it: The Joovy Scooter is now only available in a double (which we have and LOVE). If you're looking for a single stroller, check out our review of the Joovy Qool and the Joovy jogging stroller.

Wow - this stroller has so many EXTRAS! I love the footrest for when they're sleeping and the interior pockets for toys. It's little things like this that make my purchasing decisions when looking for new baby gear!

Fantastic review! Thank you so much 🙂 I have really been looking for a stroller where Parker's legs could be raised when he is reclined sleeping.

Favorite things you mentioned are the assembly time (often children a running around bezel and screaming when anything needs to be put together) and that the whole seat can be washed. I can't stand when you buy something for children that you're only able to spot clean.

The Joovy Scooter Stroller is very nice. I like all of the features you highlighted in your review especially the comfort it provides. When I had a stroller for my kids there was no suspension for a smooth ride or padded cushion. This is such a nice perk.

Very cool stroller. I love the look, as well as the innovative design. The sunshade going 360 is awesome, as most strollers do not block the sun at all. Seems very easy to fold up, and the big wheels are a plus as well. Unfortunately, the price tag is insane and not something that would ever be within my budget. 🙁
