Thule Urban Glide 2 Double Jogging Stroller Review!

Need a great all-around double sport stroller? The Thule Urban Glide 2 may just be exactly what you need. Check out my full review of the Urban Glide 2 below.

    Thule Urban Glide 2

I've partnered with Thule for this review.

Last fall I'd just started running again and was so excited to break out my trusty jogging stroller to train for a 5K with my little guy in tow. Of course, just a few weeks later I'd find out I was expecting baby number 2 and I ended up suffering from pretty severe morning sickness. My plans to train for a 5K and ultimately a half marathon got shelved... at least for the time being. Now that our baby girl is here, I'm already looking forward to losing this baby weight (all 40 pounds of it!) and getting back in shape. That's why I was thrilled when Thule reached out about their new Active with Kids line of products, including the Thule Urban Glide 2 double sports stroller.

Thule was established in Sweden in 1942 and their mission is to bring you closer to the world and your passion for life. They have a true passion for helping active families and outdoor enthusiasts and wants to help you transport anything you care for safely, easily, and in style. With Thule, you're free to live your life to the fullest. They have a full line of products including carriers and racks, travel and sport bags, general bags and case, and perhaps their most precious cargo carriers -multifunctional child carriers, bicycle trailers, child bike seats, and sport strollers. Applying expertise and rigorous testing standards, Thule offers safety, ease of use and perfect fit for your active lifestyle.

    Thule Urban Glide 2

    Thule double jogging stroller

The Thule Urban Glide 2 is available in Dark Shadow (Black), Blue, and Mars (Red).

Thule sent me a Blue Urban Glide 2 and I couldn't wait to take a closer look at it. I had set aside some time with my husband for assembly because I figured it would be a lengthy process, but to our surprise the Urban Glide 2 came almost fully assembled. All we really had to do was pop on the wheels and we were ready to stroll.

    Thule Urban Glide 2

First, let's take a look at the seats on the Thule Urban Glide 2.

    Thule Urban Glide 2 Double

The Thule Urban Glide 2 has two identical, well-padded seats, each measuring 10.5" wide at the very back of the seat (the seat fans slightly outward so it ends up being 11.5" wide) and 21" tall; and it's about 22" from the base of the seat to the very top of the canopy. The seat depth measures 7.75" and there is a 9.5" drop from the front of the seat to the foot rest. The depth of the seat is quite a bit more shallow than our single jogging stroller (with a seat depth of 10"), so just keep that in mind if your children are older and/or taller. The seats are designed for children ages 6 months and up and accommodates children up to 50 pounds (100 pounds total for the stroller). If you'll be using this stroller with an infant, you'll need to use the Thule infant car seat adapter (purchased separately and it's compatible with many major brands).

Thule Urban Glide Sports Stroller Infant

The infant car seat adapter easily attaches to the frame of the stroller. When standing in front of the stroller, you'll attach the adapter to the left seat. It just takes a minute to attach or remove the adapter. I'm using this adapter with our Britax B-Safe infant car seat and I think it fits great. You can see from the head-on shot above that the adapter does encroach a bit on the other child's seat, but my 3 year old hasn't found this to be troublesome at all. Just a note - it's not recommended to jog/run with an infant less than 6 months old; you'll mainly use the adapter and infant car seat for general strolling.

Thule Urban Glide 2 Double Stroller Harness

Each seat has a 5-point padded safety harness and the buckle is very well made. To release the buckle you'll have to compress the two red buttons and squeeze the bottom of the buckle on each side. It's just difficult enough that your toddler likely won't be able to escape. The Thule logo crotch pad is sewn onto the harness, which I love so it doesn't get lost in the hustle and bustle of getting your child in and out of the seat.

    wub5

The shoulder straps are adjustable by sliding the should belt height adjustment buckle on the vertical web straps. A no re-thread system is awesome in my book. I also really like the length of the pads on the shoulder straps. They're plenty big for older kids, whereas most strollers have pretty short pads that don't do much in terms of comfort for your little passengers. Each seat has a mesh storage pouch on the side which is perfectly sized for bottles or sippy cups.

Thule Urban Glide 2 Double Stroller Seat Recline

Each seat on the Urban Glide 2 can recline independently to a near-flat position by using the infinite recline clamp located on the back the seats. Just squeeze the handles of the clamp and move the seat either up or down until you reach the desired position for your child.

    Thule Urban Glide 2 Recline

When the seat is reclined, you'll be able to open the optional venting window for additional airflow to your little one. Just lift up the flap and tuck it into the pocket above and you'll reveal a mesh panel. I absolutely love this feature since it's so hot and humid here in the south. A little airflow is always a good thing!

Thule Urban Glide 2 double stroller

The canopies on the Thule Urban Glide 2 are definitely full coverage and this Florida mom appreciates it! I also love that each seat has it's own adjustable canopy rather than it just being one large continuous canopy. That way if one child wants their canopy down and the other one wants it up, it's no problem and no fighting will ensue (thank you Thule!). If you're using the infant car seat adapter you'll be able to fully cover  your baby with the combined effort of their car seat canopy and the Urban Glide's canopy. They'll sort of meet in the middle but you'll still have airflow between them. Just a tip - if your older passenger wants their canopy down, be sure to do that before you secure your infant seat in the adapter because it may impede the other canopy's ability to move forward (depending on your model of car seat).

    Thule Urban Glide 2

Each canopy also has a peek-a-boo window (made of waterproof plastic) with magnetic closure. Again, Thule shows it's thoughtful design by including a magnetic closure instead of Velcro. There's nothing worse than waking your sleeping child with the loud tear of Velcro as you're trying to sneak a peek at them. There's a little pocket at the top of each window that you can tuck the flap into if you want a continuous view of your child.

Thule Urban Glide 2 double stroller

Another thing that's going to make ride more comfortable for your kiddos are the large 16" rear and 12" front pneumatic tires and rear suspension (you can see the suspension in the photo on the right above - those stacked, ribbed plastic pieces on each side of the frame compress to absorb bumps on the ride). I've been putting the suspension system to the test on our morning walks and I think it's pretty great. You can also see the parking brake pictured above. Just push down on the red foot pedal to engage the break, and lift it up with your foot to start strolling again.

Thule Urban Glide Front Wheel Lock

As I mentioned, the front wheel on the Urban Glide 2 is 12" in diameter. While you're strolling, the wheel can pivot a full 360 degrees. When you're running or going over bumpier terrain, you can lock the wheel either forward or backward.

    Urband Glide 2 Storage

Underneath the stroller is a large storage compartment (and I'm talking HUGE) with a zippered water resistant cover. This is probably the best storage solution I've ever seen on a stroller. Not only is this super functional and awesome for jogging, but it's also great for trips to the zoo or theme parks when you're bringing a lot of stuff with you and maybe you'd like to conceal some items when you have to leave your stroller behind for a ride or attraction. There's also an easy access zippered pouch on the outside of the storage compartment. Besides this large storage compartment, there is also a good sized mesh pocket on the back of each seat. This is usually when I store my water bottle and the kids' necessities that I need to easily access.

    Urban Glide 2 Handlebar

This stroller has an ergonomic, foam-wrapped handlebar with a range of heights for the caregiver's comfort. With just the push of a button, you can adjust the handlebar height up or down. There's also a great hand break and safety strap to loop around your wrist as you're strolling or jogging. The handlebar does feel a little "thin" to me and I wish it was a bit more substantial since you're potentially pushing a lot of weight in front of you, but it does get the job done.
    Thule Urban Glide 2 folding

The fold on a stroller can really make or break it for me. Luckily, the Urban Glide 2 offers a one-handed fold. All you have to do is lift the flap on the front of the seat, then slide and rotate the folding handle until the frame collapses (it even has a standing fold, which I love). Then you can attach the locking strap to ensure the stroller stays folded. It's truly super easy. For a side-by-side double stroller, the Urban Glide 2 has a pretty compact fold and you can easily pop the back wheels off to save even more space if needed. This stroller only weighs 32 pounds (which is about 2-5 pounds lighter than other popular double jogging stroller brands). My almost 3 year old weighs 32 pounds as well, so it's no real burden for me to lift this stroller in and out of my SUV, I'm pretty used to it.

    Thule Urband Glide 2 Door

The frame of the stroller measures 30.75 inches wide. Since most standard door frames measure 30" to 36" in width you may be able to navigate this through some door frames without a problem. As you can see, I'm able to stroll right through my front doorway, but be sure to measure your door if this might be an issue for you. Of course, you could also keep it folded until you get outdoors.

    Thule double stroller

Overall, we're really enjoying using the Thule Urban Glide 2. I think it has a lot of great features and am really looking forward to stretching my legs and running with it as soon as I get clearance from my doctor (I'm about 3 weeks postpartum at the time this review was written). Just from pushing it on our power walks in the morning, I feel like it handles well and my kiddos have been enjoying the ride. My husband has used it while running with our son and he thought it had good maneuverability and was fairly easy to push. We're so excited to have the Urban Glide 2 to get outside with both kids and love the fact that we don't have to sacrifice being fit just because we have small kids.

Another thing we're loving about having this stroller is that it sets a great example for our children. They can see mom and dad being physically active and we can all be together while we're exercising.

This all-around fantastic sports stroller is available in a single model (the Urban Glide) or the double model which I've featured here. Retail value for the Urban Glide is $399 and the Urban Glide 2 is $649 (but you may be able to find them cheaper on Amazon - affiliate link included so check there first).

Okay first off what is not to love about the Thule Urban Glide 2 sports stroller! I love how easy it is to assemble and basically comes put together. I hate getting things that take forever to put together. Being a mom of an 11 month old and 3 year old, I am amazed at the seats dimensions, this will help encourage me to get out there and get moving more. The breaking system is another feature I'm loving along with the fact that the bottom area zips to help protect out items. This stroller looks like just the thing our family needs to stay active!

The Thule Urban Glide 2 looks like a fantastic option for those parents with two young children who wish to remain active. I also appreciate the one handed fold. The 50 lb. weight limit per seat is great for those with an older child. My 2 year old has just recently outgrown our stroller, so the larger seat is wonderful.Maneuverability is a top factor in choosing a running stroller in my opinion, so the Thule Urban Glide looks like a win for active parents.

I'm LOVING this stroller!!! I really love the sleek design and that it has a break on the handle, you never know when you may need help slowing your stroller down, especially if you are jogging (or in my case power walking) downhill!

This sounds like a great stroller. It's a little sad that the seat depth is so shallow since I tend to have tall kiddos, but otherwise it looks like a great stroller with good storage.

LOVE that the seats recline independently and also... and I know it's a silly detail to fall in love with but.... I LOVE the magnetic closures! I'm on baby #3 and I've experienced the dreaded velcro wake-ups and when one works for a stroller nap, that nap time is SACRED, haha!

I have been double stroller shopping since I found out I was pregnant with baby girl two! This stroller has jumped to the top of my list after reading your review. I love the one handed fold and the independent shades. The infant car seat adapter is really nice also. My babies tend to stay tiny so the seat depth wouldn't ever be a big problem for us. I also like the storage compartment size. Compared to other double strollers, this has a pretty large compartment for storage. I really love this stroller now!

Wow! Love the quality. The big wheels and suspension would definitely make taking my kiddos around much much easier on everyone! I have a double stroller, it's about 4 years old now and in Dire need of replacing before baby #4 gets here! It has the smaller wheels and doesn't do well on walks over gravel, on trails or anything other then perfectly flat pavement!! I would LOVE a stroller like this, thanks for all the great photos too!

This stroller looks like it has everything we have been looking for in a double stroller. The seats that recline far enough for both children to nap, ample sun shades, storage, and folding options so it can go into the vehicle. And it looks like it will fit thru most doorways!

This stroller is perfect! It has such functionality! Many double joggers don't have a brake which is super important if you're actually going to run. Also, the idea of a zippered storage compartment is genius! Again if you're running things could bounce out or a puddle could splash up. What a great idea, how has no one else thought of this yet? Added bonus? It's preeeetttttty! 😀 I love the sleek shape and beautiful, bright colors!

his jogging stroller sounds awesome. One of the double stroller features that I keep telling the hubby is important to me is the ability to adjust each seat separately to meet the individual kids needs - such as reclining one and not having to recline the other as well as the canopy. I also love the pouches on each seat to put items in.
