The BEST Copycat Chipotle Burrito Bowl Recipe

This post may contain affiliate links. Click here for more information.

This family-size Copycat Chipotle Burrito Bowl recipe is a colorful and impressive dish to create for company, Cinco de Mayo celebrations, and all sorts of festive parties! We've teamed up with Clean Ones to show you how to make it.

    chipotle burrito bowl recipe

When we lived in Boston, my husband used to get dining out credit if he worked after 7pm (which was easily five days of the week), and because there was a Chipotle on his walk to the subway station, he brought home two delicious Chipotle burrito bowls at least once a week. I call them "the best take-out years of our lives," and I still get a little nostalgic thinking about those glorious burrito bowls smothered in sour cream and guacamole! After we moved out of the city, I knew if there was one thing I wanted to recreate at home, this was it. Clean Ones Kitchen Essentials Disposable Gloves always come to my rescue when I cook with meat, and I'm excited to show you how easily they helped me tackle this delightful Chipotle burrito bowl recipe.

    clean ones kitchen essential gloves

I've always had a hard time touching raw meat with my bare hands. Without kitchen gloves, I never know if soap and water clean out all the bacteria from underneath my nails and the small crevices of my hands. I always feel better about my kitchen prep when I'm wearing disposable gloves, and the Clean Ones Kitchen Essentials Disposable Gloves are excellent for cooking with meat. They are specially designed for food handling and they are among the safest and healthiest available because they are powder free, BPA free, phthalate free, and latex free.

    food handling gloves

These are probably the most comfortable kitchen gloves I've ever worn. They come in sizes Small, Medium, and Large, so you can get a custom fit regardless of your hand size. While there is room for my fingers to wiggle and breath, the fit is still snug and comfortable to wear for long periods of time.

    meat prep

These Clean Ones gloves can handle all sorts of activities because they are so high-quality and tear-resistant. Perhaps most of all, I love the smooth texture, and how I can forget that I'm even wearing gloves at all. They made this burrito bowl recipe easy for me because I wasn't so worried about having to sanitize my hands between each step.

Ok, this is a recipe you'll want to keep around!

    Copycat Chipotle burrito bowl recipe:

The first step is to trim the fat off of the chicken breast and cut into bite-size pieces. I used six medium-sized chicken breast pieces for a serving size of 4-5 adults.

    taco seasoned chicken

Dip the chicken pieces in a mixture of equal parts oil (¼ cup) and lime juice (¼ cup).

    coated chicken breast

Next, toss the chicken in taco seasoning until well-coated. I love wearing the Clean Ones gloves for this step because of all the mess involved and it is just so much easier to do it all with your hands!

    garlic black beans

Drop the chicken into a skillet and cook on medium for 8-10 minutes, or until thoroughly cooked, while rotating occasionally. While those are cooking, pour two 15.5 oz. cans of black beans into a sauce pan with 1 T. minced garlic and a hefty dash of chipotle pepper seasoning and cook until warm.

    chicken and rice

For the rice, make about 2 cups of white or brown rice as directed on the packaging, then add 1 T. of lemon juice and 1 T. of lime juice to the pot, and sprinkle on some cilantro.

    burrito bowls

Throw it all together with the rice on the bottom and alternating scoops of chicken and beans, then keep piling it up with toppings like shredded lettuce, guacamole, avocados, salsa, peppers, and cheese!

You can assemble these Copycat Chipotle Burrito Bowls into personal-sized dishes, or into a large serving platter that can feed a large group, like I did here. I served this at a family gathering and it was fun to scoop from the variety of foods in the dish just what we wanted onto our own plates, and it made it kind of like a big Mexican party. I love the idea of doing this again with an even larger dish and bringing it to a big event as a main course!

    copycat chipotle

Remember: Don't forget to add cheese to your Chipotle Burrito Bowls! Somehow I totally forgot about the cheese in these pictures!

    chicken burrito bowls

Buy it: You can purchase Clean Ones Kitchen Essentials Disposable Gloves at Meijer, Wegmans, Kmart, and Amazon.

We hope you love this Chipotle burrito bowl recipe!
