    Hey Photographers! Butterfly Backdrops Review

This post may contain affiliate links. Click here for more information.

I may have become just a little obsessed with taking about a million pictures of my baby these first few weeks. Newborns are just so pose-able and sleepy and tiny that I can't help but pull out my camera at every given moment! Sure, my phone camera could do the job, but when you have beautiful backdrops and floordrops at your disposal, why not make something beautiful, dramatic, and worth printing for your wall?! When I was putting together props for Miss B's baby announcement, I started hunting for a library scene, and I found exactly what I was looking for at Butterfly Backdrops! I fell in love with their shop and I'm excited to feature them today. At no cost to facilitate this review, I was sent two backdrops and they were just exactly what I envisioned for creating gorgeous pictures that look like studio quality from my own home.

    butterfly

All Butterfly Backdrops are delivered rolled in sturdy cardboard tubes so that you don't have to worry about creases or folds, and most orders are shipped the same day they are printed. Something I noticed about Butterfly Backdrops that sets them apart from other backdrop companies is that they print with eco-friendly latex inks that are cured immediately. This ensures that the backdrops are dry and odorless and completely safe for infants or people sensitive to chemicals. I really appreciated being able to take these right out of the tube and get straight to work on the pictures, without having to wait for the smell to air out or for creases to settle.

    butterfly 1

The first one I chose was this Darker Parkay. You can't go wrong with classic, clean, hardwood floors since they can be used for dozens of different things like family pictures, food photography, school pictures, product reviews, and especially baby photography. I would dare to say that almost 100% of newborn photography is taken indoors so that you can control the climate conditions (and most importantly, set a space heater right on that tiny little body!), so floordrops are a must if you really want to photograph babies.

    posh 9

This Darker Parkay looks so rich in pictures! I ordered this in a 60" x 72" size, which I found provided plenty of floor coverage. I thought the ink printing was deep and rich and that the matte vinyl does a good job of avoiding glare. The backdrops are available as a flat drop or with grommets or a pole pocket so that you can hang from a backdrop stand like you see below.

    butterfly 2

While the wood floor will be extremely useful for future pictures, I was really jazzed about this Wicked Smart library backdrop for our baby announcement pictures! I wanted to create a library scene right out of Beauty & the Beast without taking these in an actual library, so we brought the books to us.

    butterfly 3

I think it produced the perfect effect! Again, I found the colors to be rich, the printing crisp, and the vinyl sturdy. The 60" x 48" size felt a little short at first, but as you can see, it was exactly the right size for what I wanted to do.

    butterfly 4

Typical printing time is just 2 days and many orders ship the same day they are printed. Butterfly Backdrops is also able to print "Double Drops", where two 5 ft. drops are hung side by side, creating an image 10 ft. wide by any height. Printing custom designs or even photos is not a problem! See what other photographers are doing with their Butterfly Backdrops:

Aren't you intrigued and inspired to try out some backdrops for yourself?! Visit Butterfly Backdrops and start picking out the perfect backdrops for your next photo shoot.

Buy it: You can purchase the Darker Parkay and Wicked Smart for $55-$105, depending on size and hang style.

I (Camille) received two backdrops at no cost to facilitate this review. All opinions are my own.
