    Summer Home Essentials

Summer is almost here, and for me that means lots of houseguests! I'm partnering with Persil to share how to create a welcoming guest space with some summer home essentials that your friends and family will surely remember.

    summer home essentials

I just love summer! The long days, spending the afternoons at the pool with my kids, and especially all the visits from friends and family. Since we live in Florida, and only an hour away from Orlando, we get a lot of visitors when school is out during the summer. A few years ago I had an idea to create a guest space with all the comforts of a luxury hotel suite. I want my guests to be as comfortable as possible, so I include a few key elements to delight all the senses. All I need to do is head to Target to gather a few supplies.

To give off that high-end hotel feel, I always stock our guest room with oversized white towels. There's just something about white that screams summer to me and I just love how generously sized hotel towels can be. I usually always have white linens in our guest room as well. Unfortunately, white can be a tough color to keep clean if you're not using the right detergent and that's why I only use Persil ProClean to keep get the "whitest" whites possible. Thankfully, it's now being sold at stores across the country (and to everyone online).

If you've never used Persil ProClean before, you are MISSING OUT! We started using it once it was introduced in the USA last year and the scent keeps us coming back. In fact, I've converted several people to Persil users after staying at our home and smelling that amazingly fresh scent on the sheets. My sister in law loved it so much that I ended up giving her a bottle to take home with her after her last stay. The thing about Persil ProClean, compared to other brands, is that the fresh scent lasts and lasts. We use the Persil ProClean Power-Pearls for our whites and Persil ProClean Liquid Laundry Detergent for colors. The cleaning power is unmatched and we rarely have stains after washing, which is saying a lot since I have an almost 4 year old and 1 year old. I'm so glad that I can grab at bottle on my weekly runs to Target now. Be sure to check the to see if it's available in your area.

Another summer home essential is a jar filled with toiletries to ensure that guests have everything they need during their stay. I found this huge mason jar at our local Target (a true score on my Target Haul folks!) and I keep it stocked with items to pamper my guests, like sugar scrubs and body wash. I also tuck in some basic supplies that they might have forgotten, like a toothbrush and toothpaste. You could also consider stocking a jar full of snacks and drinks for your guests too.

What's on your list of Summer home essentials?

Are you adding Persil ProClean to the list?

I've never done a summer themed hostess basket, but after staying at my sister while moving into my new apartment, I picked up some ideas for good hosting, and have introduced them to my home. I have a basket I keep in the bathroom with a bunch of different travel-sized toiletries (mostly from Target :)), including toothpaste, those Oral-B one time use toothbrushes, and mouthwash. When our guests come, I pull out the basket and leave it available. One thing I haven't added, but am considering, is a disposable razor, because I know I've been places and misplaced or forgotten mine, and would've loved to have one available without having to ask. Q-tips and cotton balls would be a good idea, too. I keep some large basics in the shower, as well. All my guests have commented how helpful the basket is, and I replace whatever's used before our next guests come to stay. My repeats (read: family) have even come to rely on it, so they leave some stuff behind 🙂

I've never heard of Persil, but I'm intrigued, especially with my two little ones... I'll have to give it a try 🙂

      Thanks for the post!
