Adding a new baby to the family can be a hard adjustment for young children! Especially when a LOT of focus is on the new baby, and the older siblings feel a little neglected with all the demands of a newborn. Sometimes, the new big brother or big sister needs a little gift or a little recognition to help them feel like they are still a very important member of the family, and that they have a new big role to fill!
One quick and simple way to give them a badge of recognition is to make Big Brother or Big Sister pins. They are easy and cheap to make, quick to assemble, and something that the child can wear as long as they'd like! If your child likes stickers, they're bound to love these pins, especially if you let them pick out the color.
I made my boys these pins to wear when their little sister was born earlier this month. They were thrilled about wearing them and talked about their "big brother badges" for weeks beforehand! Since they weren't allowed to visit us in the hospital because of flu restrictions, they were still able to celebrate the event at home. I think these pins really helped them with the new addition to the family, especially my 4-year-old, who has had a hard time with the adjustment.
Feel free to copy and print these! You can then insert them into plastic buttons that you can find at most craft stores. I found mine at Michaels for somewhere around $2 for four pins. I printed mine out to be 2.25 inches in diameter, but you can adjust them to the size of your buttons.
Do you have any other ideas that have helped your children adjust to having a new baby in the family? I'd love to hear them!

Such a great idea to commemorate becoming a big brother/sister!! You are so right that sometimes older kids can feel like they aren't completely included in the occasion.
