Moby GO carrier is a soft structured carrier created by the makers of the Moby Wrap! I'm putting it to the test to share a full Moby GO review with you.
Moby Wrap Inc. was founded in 2003 by parents who are passionate about babywearing. They set out to create a comfortable, secure and versatile way to carry infants and introduced the award winning Moby Wrap. After listening to feedback from parents who wanted to continue babywearing after their babies outgrew their wraps, Moby created the Moby GO to support larger infants and toddlers.
A few weeks ago I told you how much I love my Moby Wrap. When I heard that Moby Wrap Inc. created a soft structured carrier I couldn't wait to try it! The Moby GO was created to accommodate babies and toddlers ranging from 15-45 pounds. As with the Moby Wrap that we know and love, the Moby GO offers ergonomically correct positioning for both wearer and baby. You can still keep your growing baby close while being on the GO!
Moby GO Carrier
There are wide shoulder straps and the cross-shoulder design evenly distributes your child's weight. The shoulder straps aren't padded like many other soft structured carriers so it's very reminiscent of wearing a wrap.
The baby is in a seated position with their legs spread and supported to the knee to prevent hip dysplasia. There is a high back to this carrier so it will definitely accommodate older, taller babies. In these photos, my 7 month old is 19 pounds and 27.75 inches tall.
The Moby GO carrier has easy to reach, adjustable side buckles to ensure a great fit. There is a dual foam adjustable waist belt that provides support and comfort for the wearer. It adjusts from 26 to 54 inches so most caregivers will not have any problem wearing the Moby GO. There is also a nice padded feature to the leg openings for baby's comfort.
The adjustable side buckles and waist buckle have an elastic safety catch so that if the buckle were to come undone, your carrier and baby would remain safely in place.
The padded waist belt also has a utility feature so you can hook necessities to it when you're out and about.
Another wonderful feature of this carrier is the hood. Tucked into a pocket on the front of the carrier is a full hood - not just a piece of fabric that snaps to the carrier. This hood will provide your baby with extra warmth or protection from the elements.
The hood is attached with hook and loop and there are 3 different rows of loop so you can easily adjust the height of the hood. The hood is also completely removable, leaving you with a large roomy pocket for storage.
Even with the hood folded inside the pocket, I still have room for essentials like my phone, keys, credit cards, and cash. Although you wouldn't want to stuff too much in there as this will be right up against the baby's back.
This carrier was designed as a front carry carrier, but I was able to accomplish a back carry with the straps crossed in the front. I don't know how comfortable this would be if you had a larger chest though.
Overall, I think this is a great soft structured carrier at a fantastic price point. The Moby GO carrier is fully adjustable so both mom and dad (or any caregiver) will be able to wear it without difficulties, both achieving a perfect fit. My baby seemed very comfortable in an ergonomically correct position and I felt like he was very secure.
Buy it: You can purchase the Moby GO on their website in either black or gray, or you can purchase Moby GO baby carrier on Amazon.

I like that it seems like a cross between the Moby and Ergo - shaped like an ergo, but with back straps like a wrap, which might be more comfortable.

I am so excited that this is affordable for people who are on tight budgets! It definitely isn't well-known throughout babywearers since Ergo is the 'top dog', but this is cheaper and still does the job perfectly! I am super slowly saving up to get one (or hopefully win one!!)

I have had another brand carrier with my son and it seems like he was always uncomfortable. With the new baby on the way I am hoping to not have that issue when I find the right carrier!
Doni says
I love the cross strap- both for look and for comfort. I also think the place to put things is really smart, especially if you don't want to lug around your purse when going on a walk, or visiting someplace like a zoo.
Talia says
I love that it has a high back! My son is pretty tall for his age, and not all carriers have a high enough back for him. Looks like the MobyGo has combined the best traits of a wrap and a SSC!

Would love to try this...my daughter loves to be carried and this would make things a lot easier 🙂

This looks really comfy! I also like the big pocket for the hood/stuff! Thanks!
Mrs. K says
I like that they are very similar to the Ergo baby carrier but much cheaper 🙂
Essijo_N says
I fell in love with my Moby infant wrap when my baby was a newborn. My husband was deployed at the time, and the Moby wrap was an "extra set of hands" to help me get through the day. I was able to shop for groceries, do dishes, fold laundry, even get started on my post-natal workouts with baby in the moby. He has outgrown it, and I would love to have a toddler carrier from Moby. Daddy
Krystal Rivera says
I love the pocket that you can stash stuff in! And the wide shoulder straps are great.

Audrey says
I think that the Moby Go is a great concept. I do think that I would prefer a carrier that I could wear in the front and back as the child gets bigger. Other than that it is a winner.
sunnymum says
Thanks for the labeled pictures. I like the idea of a hood because it looks much easier to use (and covers more) than a baby hat.
Kelly Mars says
Very cool - only wish they came out with this sooner!

Love the criss cross back straps -- also learned that it would be easy to nurse in.
Rachel says
This looks comfortable for both mommy and baby!

Gretchen says
Love it! Just what I need for my 40lb 3 year old.
Elisha says
Thanks for the review - I loved learning about all the various features of this carrier!
Beth Ann says
I think that the back would make it a lot more comfortable than those "other" structured carriers. I dislike when I'm wearing them and the back snap digs into the top of my back. Ouchies!

Wraps kind of scare me, but I can do a carrier like this!
lulu says
Wow can carry up to 45lbs, now that's my kinda carrier 🙂
Jessica says

Christina Skinner says
I loved my Moby wrap when the kids were small babies. How cool that they now make a SSC! I really like that it's higher and wider because my little guy is quite big now.
Khristin Zakem says
So many great features! I love how high the back goes! I have a very tall 3 month old, and sometimes his head is a bit wobbly still, but a lot of carriers have too short of a back to support him and I have to hold his head.
Michael Lambert says
My wife really wants a baby carrier for our next child. They look like great carriers.
Christina Strapp says
I have heard a lot of great things about Moby wraps!
The Burns' says
You did a GREAT job pointing out all of the features! This looks like a Wonderful product!

Sharon says
i love the hook and loop for the hood. and that there is room for my keys and phone.
BugbugsMommy says
I would love one of these. I was given a "crotch dangler" carrier for my dd, and it was awful. Very uncomfortable, and when I found out how bad it was for baby, I quit using it. And being able to breastfeed while wearing baby is a great bonus!
TheMamaraptor says
Your review was thorough! Love that you took the time to take and add pictures of all the different features, instead of simply describing them. My only concern is the lack of "natural positioning" with this carrier.
I'll have to look a bit further into which carrier is best physically for baby, but if the legs apart and facing Mama is consider safe and healthy I will
brich2222 says
I love the design especially wide back straps. Comfort for Mom and baby

Sarah Hayes says
these are great carriers. I love the colors, the structure...its all nice!
Celia Villa says
Great review! ...and thank you. I LOVE LOVE LOVE my Moby but my big thing, now that babe is more curious, is that babe turns and leans back and I feel like her head is always hanging back. You included the h/w of your baby, which is similar to mine, and I instantly felt this was the right purchase (we ordered but haven't received). I hadn't read a review where someone showed a picture of

45lbs, soft but hard nice strap's and pockets Lots of colors.
mrselliott731 says
I would love to have a soft structured carrier for my little one. It would be easier than my wrap if I need to take her in and out a lot.
Barbara says
I love the fact that this carrier has a built in hood. So many times I have had to cover my baby's head with a blanket to protect her from the elements. Great idea!
Bernadette N says
I love that it holds up to 45 pounds. There are some days when I would want to carry my 3 year old and he's already 35 lbs -- too heavy for some carriers.
Katie Parsons says
looks comfortable and easy to put on!
Amandah Andrus says
Would you prefer this over a beco or ergo?
Renee Smith says

What an awesome carrier! I love the pocket with the hood and the straps look comfy to wear for decent periods of time!

I didn't realize what a great SSC this was! Love the cross back - great support, spares the world of your back fat, and I can never clip my chest clip behind me on my other brand SSC!

Love that it has a hood & a little storage pocket!
Bethany says
I love my moby wrap, but this looks so easy to use, while still being comfortable for mommy and baby!
'Manda says
I think it looks like a really nice carrier. I like the wide straps as a smaller woman who the normal SSCs shoulder straps don't fit. I wish it was also designed for back carries.
Jennifer Lewis Blog says
This was so informative! Being able to see how it works in detail is very nice. We tried 4 different carries with my DS who is 4 1/2 months old and settled on NONE! Thank you for this review! This would be one I would try!
Jessica says
I got to try this on recently - was surprised by what a great carrier it was!
Christi Bedell says
I love that the straps cross in the back. So many people ask which carriers do that!
Nicole Daw says
I think it is so neat that they make carriers that come with hoods to protect the littles from rain or snow! I also think it is a fantastic feature to have a storage pocket of some kind. It is difficult to try and carry a purse at the same time!
caseyrusso says
i love that the shoulder straps aren't padded and feel more like wearing a wrap. i definitely prefer that!
Alexia Smith says
It was great that you observed that with the Moby GO, the baby is in a seated position with their legs spread and supported to the knee to prevent hip dysplasia. I think this is important to remember as the child should be just as comfortable, if not more, than the adult wearing the carrier.
Mary Schuh says
I love how they can accommodate babies up to 45 pounds and the hood has a zipper for essentials - neat!
Unknown says
Interesting. I would have thought a carrier designed for up to 45 lbs would be easily worn on the back as well.
Manjari says
Wow, that looks comfy!
Krystal Rivera says
loving the little storage compartment im all for pockets and secret little compartments but i think this one is a tad bit wide for my taste but its cute tho i give it that!
ATLmama says
I like the hood and the pocket for essentials. I wonder if it is not super for infants. Your (at the time) seventh month old looks a little hidden by the carrier.
Janice Auna says
Looks awesome! I like that they have wide shoulder straps to distribute the baby's weight evenly. I also like the pocket for essentials. Baby carriers have come a long way in just the few short years that I've become a parent. It's pretty exciting 🙂
The Noyce Family Adventure says
Really loved your review! Great info!!!
Tannis says
I like that the carrier has a nice seat for baby with the legs supported. I'd like for the carrier to have slightly padded straps though.
3BooFamily says
Thanks for the review. I dislike the original Moby, it doesn't have enough give for my liking. This seems to be another reasonable option. It's a bummer I likely would not be able to back carry with it, as that is my most comfortable carrying position.
Jennifer Parkinson says
I really like that the hood is adjustable. Also, I like that the belt is padded for extra comfort.
Cathy says
We find Moby Go to be very comfortable for front carries! We just wish it had a back carry option and then it would be really perfect. 🙂
alex says
Great looking carrier! I love the simplicity of it and the handy zippered pocket. The pocket is one feature I wish my Beco carrier had. Thanks for the review!
Dina Isdaner says
I love that the straps cross over the back. I have always found that more comfortable and supportive. I also like that the hood has adjustable heights.
Unknown says
Interesting hood/pocket. I've never seen another carrier with a hood like that!
Diana says
I really like the multiple hood adjustments and the pocket for accessories.
Megan says
I like the idea of the wrap-like straps, but I wonder how comfortable they are? At least with a wrap, you can adjust the width and where the straps lay on your shoulders. I've had issues with painful shoulders with non-padded straps before. I also like the idea of the waist-area hook spot, but I can't imagine it is very easy to reach when you have a baby on you...
Katrina Smith says
I love the support it offers, which is extremely important when carrying your child
Rebecca S says
Great review. I didn't realize it was really just a front carry carrier. Thanks for pointing that out. Looks like a nice, comfy carrier
Laura Miller says
I have 2 Mobys...I have been curious about this kind!
Jes says
I love that this criss-crosses in the back! I think that would make for a comfier carry for me. And you really can't be that price, either!
Dana Lynn says
I love the cris-cross straps on the back. And I also like that they're so thick. This will keep it from feeling like it cuts into your soft skin!
Carly T says
I haven't tried any baby carriers yet, but I like the idea of the Moby wrap. This definitely looks like something that I would try after baby is too heavy for the wrap. I like the hood and pocket. I wonder how the comfort (for mama) compares to other soft structured carriers.
Amber says
The strap crossing feature is a great one that I never would have thought of. They have put great thought into the comfort and safety of both the carrier and carried. I especially love the pocket and hood. You can't possibly think of anything better than the features already on it!

Jennifer M. says
I have been wanting to try out this carrier since it came out. We had a moby wrap, and would love to try more from the brand.
Amy Gockley says
I really like the pocket that it has to hold my keys and other little essentials.
Dakota122503 says
Go to know Moby has entered the world of SSC's! My moby was, like many moms, my first "real"(read: ergonomic) baby carrier, I loved being able to have my son feel so secure and close! But eventually babies get to heavy for the moby, so this is a nice choice for older babies!
Brittany says
My babies have lived in their Moby wraps, the SSC looks very comfortable. I'm not normally one for buckles but like you said, the straps look like they would feel much more like wearing a wrap than a buckled carrier.
Andrea says
This looks like a SSC that I'd be able to use (I'm very small framed & any others are way too big & bulky on me).
Crystal Davis says
I like how the straps cross over in the back. Looks comfy.
MathGirl72 says
I love the rain hood! I did order one and we struggle to use it. My 6-month-old doesn't like that she can't see over the top easily. I am considering returning it, but haven't decided. She will get taller, but I worry that she will continue to dislike it.
Shanee C says
This looks like a great first carrier! I'd love to try this one with my first. I love the thick padding and storage pockets for mom or baby. The color choices are great too!!
Suzanne Michele says
I like that it comes with a pocket for keys, wallet, etc.

This is a fabulous product. The Moby Go has so many great features. I love how comfortable mom and baby are wearing this baby carrier. Get up go out! Awesome! I hope to win one for my daughter who is expecting April 23/14. Thanks.
Dani Osenbaugh says
Love how wide the straps are! And all the little extra's for organization.
psychsarah says
I love how the straps cross at the back-looks very comfy! And the fact that you can carry the necessities in the pocket is fantastic. I hated carrying a purse and wearing my son at the same time 🙂
Ash says
I've never actually taken a look at this worn before-- I think I might like this even better than the Ergo. I bought the ergo for the zippered pocket, but the Go looks waaaay easier to adjust the shoulder straps for and I love the support of carriers that cross in the back- no adjusting up and down of the Ergo's back buckle. It looks like this might be harder to adjust down to nurse in
Julie Hutson says
i had one of these and I absolutely love. it. I was able to get so much more accomplished.
Tara says
love the extra room in the pocket to carry a few essentials! also love the colors of the carrier you showed.
Aeoliana Elliott says
Thanks for the review. i love that the leg openings are padded. I have an Ergo, but find that sometimes my little guys legs get irritated from the material. Did you have that problem with this one as well?

Stefani Leavitt says
I've been looking for a soft structured carrier...I'll have to put this on my list! There are so many to choose from, but this one looks great. 🙂 Thanks for a great review, Ruth!

The large pocket is a nice addition, definitely missed out on with a wrap. I like that you were able to make it work with a back carry; versatile carriers are the best.
Jane says
The wide shoulder straps are key, and it's reasonably priced!
Dessagod says
The only type of carrier I don't have is a ssc. I need to see if my local BWI group has one to borrow.
Dessagod says
I didn't even know that Moby made other types of carriers.
Leslie says
I'm interested to see how it works as baby gets bigger...it doesnt look like it would fit a toddler just from the pictures. Love Moby though!
Betsy Klein says
Love this! Love the combination of the structured carrier and the wrap. The hood is perfect!
Beanybopp says
I like that if you are tight on money that Moby makes a product like this, that is of great quality while having it be affordable. They don't cut out important things like the design to help with hip dysplasia just because the price is lower.
MommaM says
I love all the little extra value-added features-- for example those for storage!
Puddles and Poop says

Jessica Ayoub says
I love how comfortable the Moby Go looks to wear!
Nicole says
Interesting design. Without using it, I can tell the criss-cross back would be very comfy. It seems like it would fit and feel a lot like an Ergo, which I love. However, I think that the snap close might be a little bit awkward until you get the hang of it.
Ben & Sarah says
It's great that it can carry a larger baby up to 45 lbs and looks like it provides better support than their traditional version.
Ben & Sarah says
It's great that it can carry a larger baby up to 45 lbs and looks like it provides better support than their traditional version.

Lovin the criss cross in the back, seems like it would be far more supportive and distribute the weight more evenly. The babe looks so cute and comfy in there!
Kelly Choma says
I really like the Criss-Cross back on the Moby Go. It is unique and it looks like it would be really comfy!
Michelle Lee says
I love that the hood is removable. I never use the one on my current carrier and it's always in the way!
Talia says
I'm glad that Moby made a SSC, and the price is pretty good too! Looks like a good choice for moms who don't want to put forth a huge monetary commitment into babywearing.
judi says
I wonder if this would be more comfy for front carries then my mei tai. I'm still trying to find the right front carrier to breastfeed in now that my little one is older.
Candice Gatschet says
Looks comfortable and secure I like the hood to
Rachel says
I like that it would fit both myself and my hubby!

I really like the 'safety elastic catch.' May seem like a small detail, but I really appreciate when companies go the extra mile for safety. Definitely makes me think they care about my child and were really thinking when they came up with the design and safety features. Great review--thanks so much for sharing!
Ashleigh Swerdfeger says
Neat. I learned that moby made a ssc. I had no idea. That looks really comfy and perfect for bf. I love the hood and the weight/age range.

I did not know moby had more structured carriers; I always loved their wraps but they get uncomfortable for me after about 9 months. Thanks for the info and review!
Christina Mudd says
I have a wrap which I love, but the Moby GO seems like it would be great for a older, heavier baby! This review really helped in making an educated decision on my next purchase!

I think the only thing that is a disappointment is the fact you cant do back carries.
Christina Howell says
This moby go looks awesome! I have a really cheap baby carrier and I hate using it because it is not comfortable for me or for my little one. I love the hood and pocket feature.
Christina Howell says

I love the criss cross back. I bet that really helps with older kids.

i love that the leg openings for the kids are padded, so it wont leave red marks on their ligs after being in it for a while. and i love that its easily adjusted and comfortable to wear and very supportive.. and the colors and prints are a plus also
Olivia @ This West Coast Mommy says
I didn't know that Moby made an SSC too! Very cool! I'm interested in how the crisscross straps work to distribute the weight.
Lo93 says
I wasn't too interested in this carrier until I read your review. Now I am obsessed, of course! Just one more carrier that I wish to add to small collection.

Man I love our Moby and I was going the Moby Go would be just as awesome but I really want a carrier I can back carry with and one with color. Maybe that's next?!?!
tasha may says
I really like the fact that it has wide shoulder straps and a lot of support. It looks comfy for both baby and mom, I would really like to try this out for sure! Also like that it has an accessory pouch, very convenient!
Joanna Lou Tabara says
Moby Go is really neatly built for moms on the go. the features such as adjustable side buckles and waist buckle have an elastic safety catch to keep baby safe if ever it unlocks accidentaly. I love how the hood can be adjusted accordingly to your childs height and also the pocket on the front to keep small things. This carrier is a must buy indeed!
Deana Pfeiffer says
I like that it has a hood and a pocket for other items. So convenient.
Victoria Mayweathers says
I would love to own this I love the adjustable side buckles the weight limit I love it holds babies and toddlers i really love the head holding part and it looks very comfy
Kris says
The carrier I have now could definetly use a pocket for storing the hood. It just snaps on and off. How great to have a pocket for your keys/money etc. That is VERY handy. I may be sewing a little pocket onto mind here pretty soon! lol. This was a great thorough review! Thank you so much I had no idea the weight limit was so high! Yay for carrying older kiddos!
Nikki Reed says
I had never heard of this carrier before! I really like that utility loop. My baby is always dropping things when I wear him.
Christina Zurowski says
I like the hood and the pouches. I have a different baby carrier, but it has neither of those things and I really wish it did.
Lovely Light says
I had no clue that Moby made this kind of carrier too! I'm excited to see how it would work for my baby girl!

Looks comfortable, but I don't like that I wouldn't be able to carry my little one on my back. I love the hood!
Ashley Campbell says
Wow! Holds up to 45 pounds! that's great 🙂
Stephanie McNamee says
The moby go looks great. I like the padded straps, ergonomic design
Chelsea Ewing says
I love that the leg opening looks comfortable padded. Other similar carriers I've tried don't have any padding at the leg opening and leave marks!
So Sew says
Nice to have a classic dad and mom friendly carrier option! Looks like all the Moby Go needs to add to be perfect is an adjustable body height. Thanks for the review.
michelleem says
I love that the straps cross! If I won this I would be gifting it to my little sister as she is in need of a decent carrier for her son.
Victoria says
nice to see that they were able to make a carrier that works with longer children than their wrap, I can't get over how long our little man is (mind you a large majority of the men in our family are over 6 ft, so it makes sense) so length and comfort are two big components i have to consider
Sara Rambo says
Wow I had no idea that moby made a carrier like this. It looks much cooler than my wrap style mobys that gets unbearably hot in our South Carolina summers. I love that this has a hood, and a weight limit of 45 lbs! Also, being able To breastfeed in it is a must for me.
ldoepker says
I like how it crosses the back I think that is less stress on the back and that it has a pocket in it for keys and money
laina's mom says

I loved the moby wrap for my newborn. I will have to try the moby now that he is bigger.

I really wish they were for newborn babies also, but it looks like they do offer really good back support. Oh well, shortly my little one will be 15+lbs.. until then I'll enjoy all the newborn time I've got 🙂
Maegan D says
love the utility feature and the adjustable hood height! looks like a comfy and breathable carrier.
chellybeans says
Looove the pocket for essentials, that's a great idea.
Michelle J. says
I love that the adjustment for the shoulder straps is lower on the waist. It really does seem like it would be fairly easy to adjust in that spot as opposed to higher up by the armpits like in most other SSCs.
Christina Strapp says
This looks like a really nice carrier. I really like how it has a pocket for storage.
Scianda Long says
This looks very comfortable. The carrier I have has no waist strap, and I walk and bus everywhere, so it is becoming very difficult to carry around.

I have seen so many different carriers in stores, but I don't remember seeing this one. I'm very curious now. It looks really soft, and I like how there is storage. I may just have to add this one to my short list for of carriers. Thanks for your honest review!
JsMom says
I love that it looks so super comfy
Cassandra Kelton says
I'm glad this has an elastic safety catch. A soft structured carrier I had a year ago didn't have that and one of the buckles came apart/broke while I was wearing baby. Luckily she was okay but that was scary! Thanks for the review!

That last picture of both of you looking at the camera is precious. This carrier looks like it would be very light weight!
