Homemade Ketchup

Ditch the bottled ketchup for this homemade ketchup. It's easy to make and so tasty! 

Ingredients

  • 1 28 ounce can Whole tomatoes
  • 2 tbsp Tomato paste
  • 2-3 tbsp Extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 medium Onion, chopped
  • 3 cloves Garlic, chopped
  • ¼ cup Brown sugar
  • cup Apple cider vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire Sauce
  • ¼ tsp Allspice
  • ¼ tsp Paprika
  • ¼ tsp Cinnamon
  • ¼ tsp Ground ginger

Instructions

  1. Start with a medium-sized pot on medium heat (I used ow heat on my gas range) and saute the onion and garlic in olive oil (until onion is translucent).

  2. Add tomatoes, tomato paste, sugar, Worcestershire Sauce, and apple cider vinegar to the pot and bring to a boil. Then, lower the heat and allow to simmer. 

  3. Add allspice, paprika, cinnamon, and ginger and stir. Continue to simmer for another 45 minutes to 1 hour, stirring occasionally.

  4. Carefully transfer mixture to food processor or blender (or use an immersion blender if you have one) and blend until smooth.

  5. Chill in refrigerator for 2-3 hours to thicken. 

Recipe Notes

Store in refrigerator in an air-tight container for up to one month.
