Christmas came early at our house! On my recent trip to the Moana premiere, Disney gifted me with some spectacular Moana merchandise for my kids and then I bought a few things for myself (people, treat yourself!). I'm already enjoying the little gifts I bought myself and I know my kids are going to go NUTS when they finally see all these amazing items under the tree this year. If you haven't seen Moana yet, run to the theaters. You're missing out! Once you see it (you can check out my full Moana review first), I know you'll agree that everyone should be getting some Moana merhcandise this holiday season.
Moana Merchandise
First off, let me talk about boys. Sometimes they're overlooked when a new Disney princess movie comes out because - well, princesses. I'm happy to report that there are some great items that boys are going to love. The Disney Moana Adventure Canoe Playset is just perfect for playtime. I imagine my little ones will be bringing this in the bathtub and using it with their water tables.
We love Funko POP! figures in our house and I know my son is going to adore this Maui doll. These are so fun to play with and they're cute too!
You're little one can't pretend to be Maui without a magical fishhook and this Maui Light-Up Fishhook is AWESOME. The fully sculpted hook features two modes of play (1. Press button on handle to see the blade light up and hear thunderous sound effects and 2. Motion activation triggers light-up blade and sound effects). You can get one for just $24.95 at the Disney store.
Another toy that my 4.5 year old loves is Tsum Tsums. These pint sized plush toys are ridiculously adorable and so soft and cuddly. The Moana Tsum Tsum collection is no exception and they're going to be the perfect stocking stuffers this year. Be sure to grab the whole collection, including Maui, Moana, Tamatoa, Pua, Heihei, and the Kakamora (1, 2, and 3).
We also received the Moana and the Ocean book. This beautiful jacketed picture book is based on the film and features a story about Moana's unique relationship with the Ocean. The illustrations are absolutely gorgeous. I know my kids will love reading it while snuggling the soft Moana 20 inch plush doll.
Another item that I'm actually excited about is the Moana Classic Doll. Both of my kids are going to love this doll. She's fully pose-able and comes with a paddle accessory and the packaging is way outside the box! It has a pop-out boat to recreate scenes from the film! Seriously, I love this feature.
How cute are these?! We also got a special surprise for our kiddos - a pair of Kids Moana Flip Flops from Havaianas. These comfortable flip flops feature Havaianas signature textured footbed and come in two prints with bright slim straps. You can pick them up for just $20.
For the adults on your list, you can pick up this Moana Singing Sketchbook Ornament. She's sings her signature song, "How far I'll go" and has a 2016 medallion to commemorate the year. Last but certainly not least is the Moana soundtrack. I actually pre-ordered the soundtrack on Amazon because I could not wait to get my hands on it! I was able to start streaming it as soon as it was released since it included an MP3 download. Lin-Manuel Miranda, Mark Mancina, and Opetaia Foa'i did an amazing job with the music for this film. It's beautiful and catchy and fun. I LOVE it!
What's on your child's holiday list?
Will you be including any Moana merchandise?
Here's official information about Moana from Disney:
Three thousand years ago, the greatest sailors in the world voyaged across the vast Pacific, discovering the many islands of Oceania. But then, for a millennium, their voyages stopped – and no one knows why.
From Walt Disney Animation Studios comes “Moana,” a sweeping, CG-animated feature film about an adventurous teenager who sails out on a daring mission to save her people. During her journey, Moana (voice of Auli’i Cravalho) meets the once-mighty demigod Maui (voice of Dwayne Johnson), who guides her in her quest to become a master wayfinder. Together, they sail across the open ocean on an action-packed voyage, encountering enormous monsters and impossible odds, and along the way, Moana fulfills the ancient quest of her ancestors and discovers the one thing she’s always sought: her own identity. Directed by the renowned filmmaking team of Ron Clements and John Musker (“The Little Mermaid,” “Aladdin,” “The Princess & the Frog”) and produced by Osnat Shurer (“Lifted,” “One Man Band”), “Moana” sails into U.S. theaters on Nov. 23, 2016.
