Isn't it amazing to be a woman in this day and age when we can significantly alter and update our appearance in a single afternoon? The mundane routine of day-to-day sameness can wear on a soul, and sometimes the best medicine is to shake things up a bit. I really get a thrill thinking about new ways to update or change my appearance depending on my mood and the season! I think altering hair color is a fun and totally exciting way to take a leap and do something different, and then showing it off for friends and family to admire can offer such a dose of confidence!
Clairol knows just how to empower women to create exactly the look they want, but all from the comfort of their own home and on their own timeline, not to mention in a totally affordable way. Clairol Nice'n Easy is salon quality, but it also looks completely natural. Even in revealing sunlight, where it is hard to hide under forgiving lighting or shade, hair color looks natural, rich, and brilliant!
I'm not a stranger to coloring my hair. My first experience was in high school when I needed to look Puerto Rican for my role as "Maria" in West Side Story. I had a hairdresser friend help me go dark, dark brown and I LOVED the change! From that point, I realized that you absolutely don't have to pay $$$ to try a new hair color.
My hair color saga does have some valleys, though. Once I went to a beauty school to get my hair dyed a solid color for my wedding and it went much darker than I planned. I wanted to merely go to my natural light brown and cover some of my grown-out highlights, but everything went extremely dark. It was definitely not the color I was hoping for. No more beauty schools for me! I learned a lesson that day that I could (and probably should) take color decisions into my own hands, in the comfort of my own home, and I haven't had my hair done in a salon since. I know that Clairol works for me and always gives me just the color I want, without any surprises.
Since then, I've had great success at home! I've tried different shades of brown and recently enjoyed being a subtle redhead. I love being in control of the color experience and how completely affordable it can be. I never bother with the salon anymore. Clairol Nice'n Easy comes in 45 different shades, none of them fake or phony, and ranging from the lightest blonde to a deep natural black, and I was ready for that BLACK!
I'd never thought of going black before, and part of me worried that it would look a little gothic or completely unnatural, but I put my trust in Clairol and took the plunge. I made sure to do the allergy test 48 hours before coloring and I totally recommend you doing the same, even if you've already used coloring products before.
The directions on every Clairol Nice'n Easy box are easy to follow and practically fail-proof. Start by putting on the included gloves, then pour the contents of Bottle #1 into Bottle #2.
Shake it up until totally blended and start applying to dry, unwashed hair until completely saturated and follow the directions for how long to wait based on whether you color regularly with a similar shade or if this is your first time in a while. Helpful tip: I like to apply a thick smear of lotion to my forehead and hairline so the dye will not color my skin if I am careless.
When the time is up, rinse and shampoo, then revel in that glorious CC+ ColorSeal Conditioner! I think it's one of the best-kept secrets in the hair coloring world! I LOVE it! It adds shine and softness and remarkable brilliance, and I just recently searched and realized that I can buy it individually, to use between colorings. I'll be stocking up, for sure. So are you ready for the big reveal?!
Striking, no!? I LOVE it and I'd absolutely do it again! I will never forget the thrill of going this dark! The color is SO rich and so brilliant! I shared this picture of my new color on Facebook, and was blown away by how many of my friends just loved it! All of their positive feedback and honest praise was an incredible boost of confidence and certainly put a new and needed bounce in my step this summer!
I can also count on Clairol Nice'n Easy to provide 100% gray coverage. I recently got to visit with all of my siblings who are all close to my age, and was shocked to see so many gray hairs among them! I realized that I could very well have just as much gray on my head, but my hair color does such an excellent job of covering it that I don't actually know if I do or not!
