I'm going to show my age for a moment here and say that I remember the good ole' days when toys didn't have a touch screen and there weren't apps for everything. My childhood toys were all based on imaginative play - Cabbage Patch Kids, Barbie Dolls, Lincoln Logs - you get the idea. I remember playing in our finished basement for hours with my Lincoln Logs set and building and rebuilding until my heart was content. Sturdy, classic, wooden toys. Ah, the memories! That's why I was SO excited when Lincoln Logs offered to send me the BIGGEST Lincoln Logs set ever created (at no cost to facilitate a review) for my Wubba. I couldn't wait to introduce him to Lincoln Logs, one of my beloved childhood favorites.
Lincoln Logs sent me "The Collector’s Edition Homestead," which is made of up over 360 parts (yes, 360!) including real wood Lincoln Logs - just like the ones you may have played with when you were a kid.
I couldn't wait to get down to business and start PLAYING with this set! As soon as I put my little guy down for a nap, I opened the tub to check out all of the pieces. This classic building set includes a frontiersman figure, 2 horses and a build-able covered wagon with working wheels that really move. Since the Wubba is still learning how to building using blocks, I figured I'd assemble a few structures and capture his reaction. This set is designed for ages 3 and up, but at 28 months, I knew my toddler would enjoy it (with supervision of course).
This set is lovely because it comes with an instruction guide that outlines how to build a few structures, but encourages you to get creative and build whatever you desire. Thanks to the large selection of pieces in this set, the possibilities are really endless!
Since my son is obsessed with cars and trains, and basically anything that rolls, I knew he'd love the covered wagon that comes with this set. Of course, that's the first thing he went for when he awoke and found this massive set of Lincoln Logs waiting for him. He was thrilled with the wagon and loaded several of the smaller blocks inside. We used this opportunity to work on our counting skills too! He was able to fit eight blocks in the wagon and was quite proud of himself.
The Wubba also couldn't wait to start building. Another reason I love having this set is because he can work on his motor skills by building with the large and small pieces. It's great imaginative play, and he's refining his motor skills; that's a win-win!
Overall, we're very happy with the Lincoln Logs Collector's Edition Homestead! It's such a fabulously huge set, and I know it will last a lifetime. This set is available right now on Knex.com and at toy retailers everywhere for a MSRP of $99.99. You can also get it on Amazon (often cheaper).
Lincoln Logs wants to give one lucky reader their own Collector's Edition Homestead too!

I too loved Lincoln logs. My grandma still has the ones my mom and aunt and uncles played with as children. I played with them with my sister and cousins. And now, so my kids and their cousins. I am positive my two kiddos ( 7 and almost 3) would adore having their own set to play with at home. I am so glad they are still made with real wood too!
